I am trying to avoid only setting the trusses on the posts and wanted them to be set 2'OC. Obviously, placing my posts 2'OC wouldn't be cost affective. My thoughts were if I use 2x8's them they would stick out the same distance from the posts that my trussplate and skirtboard would.

If you are really concerned with the post rot, look at permacolumn. Or their column brackets. They mount into the concrete with 4' rebar and keep the lumber off of the ground.

Do you have any good pics of the installing the girts this way? Do you us a special bracket? Or toe nail the girts?
