New Shop! Please critique my plans!

Thanks. I'll check it out. Also checked with two pole barn kit companies and they use CCA .60 as well.

OK I found a building supplier that said he can get me 6x6x16 treated post for burial that are CCA treated to a.60 retention. That sound good?

    EMT compression fitting

Yes they are fine & they do look better. That's why I was curious where you would be using them. If looks didn't matter or they were hidden i'd use the set-screw type but the compression will give you what you looking for. A good hole saw or step bit will normally cost you about 30 bucks but if...

    EMT compression fitting

Strange I didn't see this when I commented :dunno: Step drill bits can do it all but I always drill a pilot hole.

    EMT compression fitting

Is this for a personal project? In a commercial application I would use the compression but if it was just for my shop or garage I would just use the set screw type connectors. Also wondering what the job is that will require you to have to knock out holes? Too bad you not closer though I have a...

    Peg board ideas

I don't have any pictures of mine in use but I like the wallpeg brand. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077RJZCXD/?tag=atomicindus08-20

What did you pay for your slab?

From what I have seen around here is the labor close to what the concrete is. I just called a few days ago and 3,000 psi is $113/yd + $5/yd if you want the small fiber mixed in. I'm no concrete guy and I respect what they do but pouring inside a pole barn there really isn't any forming so I...

They are very common here where I live. The ones I have seen seem to be built well.

Thanks for the ideas! Do you have a thread on here showing the shop your building now?

New Shop! Please critique my plans!

Thanks for the advice! I think about and draw out plans pretty frequently here recently. I've got a few months before I start so hopefully I'll have it all figured out by them.

I went and checked the ones at Home Depot and sure enough they are exactly as you say! Thanks for the info! If I wasn't able to find them local what about those things you cement into the ground and the post slip into them?

New Shop! Please critique my plans!

We are prone to have some rough hurricane weather and tornados for sure! Had tornados within about 10 miles from us on few occasions. I'll ask around about an engineer in my area.

The only thing engineered would be the trusses. I haven't looked too much into the methods of treatment just know I need pressure treated post. I was originally going to do 6x6 on 10' OC but I have read a lot about the treatment not penetrating the 6x6 enough? I'm not sure about all of that but...

New Shop! Please critique my plans!

At absolute most I have considered a 2 post lift for changing oil/brakes and other minor vehicle work. I figured that I would at least determine where I would possibly want one and make that section of the slab a little thicker. Other than that it will be things like a boat, small utility...

New Shop! Please critique my plans!

Yes, actually attic trusses are the only ones I have quoted so far! My reason for changing may sound crazy but here it is: One of the gable ends will basically be enclosed for a couple different rooms, meat processing, bathroom, dust collection/air compressor, things like that. I felt that 8'...
