    Auto AC question

My VW uses a Sanden compressor. Sanden is a Japanese company. The compressor was not all that much, maybe $300. Chances are BMW does not make their own compressors.

Replacing outlets: which ones to buy?

I used Hubbel commercial grade in my house 20 years ago. None have failed. 20 amp because I used 12 gauge wire and a 20 amp breakers for all receptacles. Commercial grade light switches also. https://hdsupplysolutions.com/shop/tp/hubbell-white-commercial-grade-receptacle

Help me spend $25 gift card at Lowes

I like the Knipex mini bolt cutter. I got this Jawhorse which I have used for a few projects. A woodworking project, a tractor project, a horse project, a welding project, a kitchen project. All tasks that it helped me with the past month...

    Craftsman brand of West Germany

You made me go down to the basement to see if I had woodworking vise somewhere. Indeed I do but it is a red Craftsman with no country that I can see.

    GFI, can it get weak?

I had a 20 amp GFCI breaker in the panel box protecting 12 gauge wire. The garage door opener would cause it to pop. I took the GFCI breaker out and put in a regular old 20 amp QO breaker and the problem went away. I did install a GFCI outlet in the garage that the door opener is not plugged into.

Garage door, diy or hire a pro

I have done a garage door replacement and I have done springs a few times. I use 1/2 solid round stock for the spring tensioner. For a $50 difference the pros can do it and I can sit on my **** for the 4 hours or more it would take me to do the job.

Drive size vs Nut and Bolt size

You did not specify what grade bolt and nut you were using, if you deburred the hole, if the hole was 3/8", if you were using an accurate torque wrench to torque to the bolt's specification (each grade bolt has a different torque value, dry or oiled torque value is different, bolt plating also...

Looking for a good torque wrench

I am doing my once every 3 years or 100,000 mile timing belt this weekend. Plenty of torque to X plus add 1/4 turn bolts. I use my Sharpie and mark all the bolts at the same time. Make the next quarter turn. Easy with 1/4 turn fasteners. I have 1/4" and 3/8" PI torque wrenches bought off Ebay...

    Recommendations for Torx Bit?

I make the Sharpie pen mark at 6 o'clock and turn to 9 o'clock if it says 1/4 turn. Not hyper critical if it turns to 9:30. Nothing has blown up yet with that method.

    Rafter Roof Span Question

Most people say match the style, they refer to the exterior look. A garage that looks like a house on the inside might lack some function.

Has there ever been a non needlenose bent plier?

Mine are shinier and for sale. Shinier than the set on Ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Crescent-J26-30-Degree-Bent-Nose-Slip-Joint-Pliers-VGC-/142317984836?_trksid=p2385738.m2548.l4275

Has there ever been a non needlenose bent plier?

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=5624&pictureid=69843 I dug this out of my toolbox. A crescent Tool bent nose pliers.

Have you used a torque angle gauge?

My VW has plenty of torque to yield bolts. I get out my Sharpie and make a witness line at noon. Turn the mark to 3 o'clock. Of course all the bolts are easy to see and are shiny. Might not be helpful for some.

    New 240v outlet wiring

I used 12 gauge for my 20 amp 120 volt welder. Actually all my receptacles in my house are fed with 12 gauge. I used 10 gauge for my 240v 30 amp welding circuit with 6-50 receptacle.
