    Garage floor questions

thanks.... Rolling the ends down should work and lifting it up in the center into the cement will work also. I just wanted to make sure it did not sink back down and thought the odd 2-3" rock under the mesh would do the trick. May try a combination. Just trying to not use little wooden stakes...

    Garage floor questions

I have just completed placing 4-5 inches of screened gravel on the floor of a 18 x 18 foot space. It has been packed by the skid-steer driving on it but will also rent a compactor before putting the wire mesh down. I was going to use 2-3 ' high rocks to place under the wire mesh to hold the mesh...

    Ceramic tile on hardwood.

I have an old hardwood floor that I want to put ceramic tile over. Under the hardwood flooring is a very solid boarded in floor. I was thinking of screwing this hardwood floor into the underlay to make it really solid and then applying the tile adhesive. Would there be a problem doing this...

Putting a garage door on the gable end of a home

KBS2244 .. thanks. The ends will still be supported and I will support the center with a post away from the sill. Your right... a narrower door would be the answer if I was at ground level but this sill is 16" above the ground across the gable end and had plywood from the sill to the ground.

Putting a garage door on the gable end of a home

I mentioned just that about what you was talking about with this exception.. Attatch a 16' double 2 x 6 with lag bolts into the clab boards on...

Putting a garage door on the gable end of a home

I may not have been clear enough with what I really wanted to do. The space from the outside support piller to the center one is just 8 1/2 feet. The insulated garage door I have is 7 x 9 feet. The bottom beam going across there now has to come out so one can drive on ground level into the...

Putting a garage door on the gable end of a home

The first picture is the end that I want to cut out a 7 x 9 ft hole for the garage door. The door you see there will be on the other end and I will use that hold as part of the garage on that end. The second picture is the sill from inside that I want to take out and extend the studs to the...

Putting a garage door on the gable end of a home

We bought an older home that has an undeveloped area on the gable end of the house that would make a great garage area. I want to put in a 7 x 9 garage door and was wondering the best way to put the header in . I am planning on using 2x10's for the header. Is there a need to have support for the...
