Question About Insulating Interior of Sugar House Roof to Prevent Condensation When Boiling

Nice building. I sure miss hanging around with my grandfather at his sugar shack. Sitting on a couple of stumps and staying warm inside while the snow melted and dripped. He always used sugar maple trees for the fire - I have no idea if that was supposed to make it taste better or not. Always...

Fencing Pliers, Windmill Tools and Cavemen

I wish I had a photo of my grandfathers barb wire fence gate. He had a habit of adding more wire every time it failed, almost never removing the old wire. It was a work of “art”. Jim

Internet to shed... Wifi or hardwired

I could use some advice getting my TP-LINK power line adapter working again in my garage. I lost some of my function when I upgraded my router a few weeks back. Before that, it was working fine. The power line adapter shows up in my garage with a good signal. However, I apparently have...

    Looking for a particular bolt

The fin neck bolt would have worked well. I ended up ordering stainless carriage bolts. They should work fine. Thanks! Jim

    Looking for a particular bolt

I am restoring two old “wrought iron” chairs. There was no “seat” for the chairs so I used some nice plywood and put on some stain and poly. It looks pretty nice. I happened to have one bolt in my junk drawer I like. I will need eight of them to do the chairs. From above, it looks like a...

    Storm door screen replacement

If you are replacing the screen yourself, my wife and I had a pretty easy time redoing our sliding door screen the other day. We happened to have a partial roll of pet screen from our previous home so we used that. I didn’t even look at YouTube to see how we should do it. It took us about...

    Solar light for shed

A solar light seems to be a common option for sheds these days. I’d look at new sheds to get an idea what might work for you.

    Speed squares

I have a small speed square that I got decades ago. I recently bought the next size up at Home Depot a few months ago. I was surprised to see the most of the edges were sharp enough to cut a finger. Is that a new feature?

great trick to help turn large pipe fittings

I used my childhood Wilton vice to pull old pipes that were driven into our shoreline. Clamp the vice around the pipe and pry against the vice with a bar.

What do I do with this?

I think you need more. I got these last year out of the town scrap metal bin.

Weep hole question on retaining wall

If you rebuild this and have the room, I believe the wall will be stronger if there are curves in the design rather than a straight wall. (But I could be wrong - I’m no expert) Jim

    Repurposing radial arm saw

My dad had one. It did work well cutting plywood into shapes to build trusses for a small pole barn. Other than that, it didn’t get much use.

    3” OD pvc? Pipe

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look into the 2-1/2” pipe option. Yes I could probably locate the oem part but that is a last resort for me. This is just a project to amuse myself with and hopefully get some use out of the blower. I’m also thinking about using flat plastic sheeting...

    3” OD pvc? Pipe

I pulled a gas leaf blower out a dumpster and got it running nicely. I do not have the plastic tube for the air to blow out of. Any ideas where to find a three inch outside diameter pipe that I could use? Thanks, Jim

How to convert a converted room back to garage

Perhaps I missed it, but you should be able to go online and see what square footage the town says the house is. Might be helpful.
