Morning. I have a 40x60 metal building I'm starting to finish out. My main electrical panel and water heater are on the opposite side of a 12" I-beam.
Can I punch out 1" holes for routing the elec/water through the I-Beam? Any worries about weakening the structure? The welder who put it...
Afternoon,
I’m planning my slab prep, since my pour is coming up soon. Actual shop space is 40x40 and I do a fair amount of wood working.
I’d like to have dust collection run to the center(ish?) area of one bay for my table saw and joiner. I have a 3hp dust collector from HF that I...
Forgot to ask, for those local what kind of ventilation are you using? Or is the HVAC system covering those duties? I’ve kicked around everything from regular roof vents to a cupola to a gable fan.
I’ll be doing mini splits in the living areas.
Lol guess I was off there.
I was thinking of footer depth where they said they wanted to dig down to hit undisturbed soil. Which obviously doesn’t haven’t to do with frost.
Thanks for the post. Frost line is around 18-24” here. The norm for insulation around here is either none or 3” R10. This 1” R8 seems to be an oddball the more I read about it.
I’m not sure on the correct terms for traditional or spread footing. It will have a perimeter footer and multiple...
Well cold weather got me thinking about insulation for my new building. It’s a 40x60x18 and will be an hour outside of Austin TX. One bay (20x40) will be two story living quarters until my house can be built later.
I’m holding off on spray foam insulation due to the costs. Metal pricing went...
I'm 35 and in decent shape. Depending on how finances go it may not be a bad idea to erect this in the fall/winter based on your experience. Nobody in the Austin, TX area is hungry for work and the prices are all very high for any trade.
Appreciate the timeline, I couldn't find any idea how...
I requested a list of local erectors from Meuller and DDM. My thought was to hire out a skilled erection crew to do anchor bolts when they're pouring. I originally thought this could be done solely by concrete crew, but I guess that isn't the case. Appreciate the advice as this could have...
My guess would be drill anchors in would be acceptable if the original method failed. I'll have to ask the manufacturer. I planned on being present for the pour to check measurements the best i could. Good point though, thanks.
