Indeed. Choosing the correct outlet for the circuit is much more important than the brand. These are your options. https://www.tesla.com/support/home-charging-installation/mobile-connector#nema-guides

Yeah it seems to me that if you are running something through the ceiling anyway, then why not just put a J box in the ceiling and run BX or EMT or whatever out of that.

But isn’t it true that AC BX and MC can be installed in “exposed” locations, whereas NM can be installed in enclosed locations?

Somebody may correct me, but I’m pretty sure that all connections must be accessible. Meaning that junction box can’t be hidden in the attic. It should have an exposed face plate. With BX, you should be using metal boxes, and you could use a faceplate with a knockout and run the BX out of that...
Wylie- is the panel I linked to in post 21 above up to code? A little abnormal for a home shop but doesn’t look that different to me from an industrial control panel. I’m in the process of wiring lights for my shop and I’m going to need at least 6 switches (possibly 8 eventually). I really don’t...
OP--Check this out. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=465679&page=2 Scroll down to Post #25. I got him to explain further in Post #28. I thought of this thread as soon as I saw what he had done. Pretty amazing. I'm probably going to do something similar. Looks like...
Bump. Asked before, but can you give some details on that control panel. Look like DC switches, but controlling AC loads. Really want to do something similar.

True story. The circa 1999 Cat5 in my walls has no trouble hitting 1000mbps. I run Cat6 when I’m installing new runs because it’s cheap enough and I have it on hand, but it’s not really necessary.

You only have to screw up one pair to get 100mbps... If I absolutely must terminate a cable (such as for an IP camera) I now either cut off the end of a patch cable to length I need and punch it down or use these LINKUP - RJ45 Connectors Cat6A (6...
WRONG WRONG WRONG. So many assumptions in this thread from people who don’t know better. That cheap old ******* with all the tools and parts in his basement is going to make a bunch of bad cables then come back here asking why he’s only getting 100mbs. 20 years ago I made 1000s of patch cables...
Are you kidding me man? Keystone jacks and patch panels and a punch down tool are way cheaper than a good termination kit and make WAY more reliable connections. There’s a reason Pros rarely ever make a patch cable. Because they are a PITA, time consuming, and have a high failure rate.

Extenders (HDMI to cat6) is the right way to do this and how most pros will do it when you need to run a distance. Max recommended length for 4K on an HDMI cable is 10’.
