Hydraulic Fluid spill from the contractor?

Welcome to the construction world, especially resi and smaller commercial. Your average stick monkey, "PM" or framer doesn't care, they're not getting paid to mop up oil. Sounds like you're pretty much your own GC, sometimes the GC has to be the ******* and say clean up this oil, fix the grass...

    Air compressor oil change.....crazy prices!!

Same, all we run in pistons we service and our own machines is plain white bottle Valvoline 30 ND. Flushed and also torn down plenty of machines that never had oil changes that were all sludged up or had water contamination.

    Brake Cleaner

You haven't seen brake cleaner use until you work with field mechanics lol. I think recently the cheapest prices, non commercial acct, I've seen recently was Walmart's brand and Blaster at Home Depot.

    culverts

All we use for culverts and irrigation is ADS pipe, usually double wall. Most culvert failures we see is either bad bedding, poor head walls or both.

Anyone make their own hydraulic hoses?

We have a Weatherhead crimper, maybe use it a couple times a year. Last time was over Thanksgiving weekend to get a piece of equipment back up. If there weren't multiple hose stores in town plus the dealers that make hoses I'd probably use it more.

    Best shovel brands

We have a **** load of Razorback dirt tools, they hold up well, I loose the occasional point shovel handle when the guys use one to pry on an MJ fitting or a big rock instead of getting a bar lol

    Question for the welders

Def wear your breathing gear, that's a great combo, hot dip and whatever they use to paint the sea cans, yuck. I'd go with flux core too, we've done a lot of sea can mods with 211 or 212 flux. If you want to buy hinges check out local steel yards that do a lot of fence stuff.

    Air Over Hydraulic Porta-Power Kit?

I bought one of those TEMCO air over pumps the other day when we needed another one. We run the hobo freight kit rams off it along with everyone else's rams.

    Your most annoying shop sounds

"While it's here can you look at...." Customer then proceeds to rattle off 10 pages of stuff turning an easy 1 hour job into 5 days of nonsense "What happened was...." Operator or driver then proceeds to explain what stupid they did and how they feel it wasn't really their fault "This...

need to drill assorted size holes thru a solidly grouted cinder block wall, at least 8" thick

I'd core it in a heartbeat but we have our own setup. Doing CMU walls with a SDS max and dry cores is totally doable too if you want to buy the bits. Check with the home depots in Prescott and the rental places, someone up there has to have at least a small rig you can rent if you want to go...

Welding pliers necessary for MIG welders?

Get the channelock ones, at least if you do any serious amount of welding. We tried the cheapies but we were wearing the cutters out in no time.

    Industrial Storage Totes?

We've been using those black ones with the yellow lids for a while. I did the wall of bins thing for all our electrical stuff, next is all the PVC fittings and stainless stuff, its real nice to just walk in and pull out the one bin you need.

    Taper lock/QD hub stuck

We've employed large bearing splitters and an H bar puller along with a torch and air hammer plenty of times.

How to finish mixed drywall/stemall junction?

It's pretty common here to run a furring strip down at the transition to cover and also protect the drywall.
