I’ve got a bunch of 4 inch rigid metal conduit. It was used and in medium condition. That is the galvanizing was mostly intact, but there were a couple of rusty spots where it looked like it might’ve been buried. I’ve scrubbed it up and painted it with cold galvanized. I’m going auger holes to about 5‘ and install with concrete for a solar panel array.

While we’re not in a high rust area, central Texas, I wonder if there’s a something I can put on this stuff that will extended the service life by preventing corrosion.

I was thinking something like roofing tar. Noodling around the Internet I see some mention of an epoxy coat.

Any ideas or product recs? I only need about 30 years…..

thanks

"Zip" tape (for the wall and roof sheathing materials) would protect the outside of the pipe and I suppose capping the pipe (if not covered by the panels) should be pretty simple.
Above grade can be painted as I'm sure the sun would eventually deteriorate the tape above grade.
