Charge your phone and jump start your car??

Had my truck jumped by one of these a week or so ago...I was skeptical when the guy walked over with this little box...but it worked. He said he had used it for a couple of vehicle jumps without recharging it.

    Thoughts on portable band saw?

Been thinking about adding a portable band saw to my tool stable but not sure on brand or model to get. Been buying Milwaukee lately and have been happy. Would need to be able to cut through at least 1/4" cold rolled steel bar/sheet. Thanks

Angle clamps for making tables, woodworking or specialized metal?

I use Strong Hand clamps, made for welding...I love them and use them all the time. I've also used some plastic and steel wood cornering clamps. They work ok for the job.

Better to leave welder on or turn on/off?

Sorry...I usually only work nights...this is my second job. So at max I'm using the welder off and on for 3-4 hours. Grinding is done nearby but not directed at welder. I typically will do 4-6 welds, then let cool for 10-15 minutes, change my jigs then weld again.

Better to leave welder on or turn on/off?

In my furniture making biz I mostly do lots of short welds, with 5-10 minutes between rounds. I've been turning my welder off and on between, but recently thought it might be better to leave it running. Thoughts? I'm using a Millermatic 175 that was recently given an excellent bill of health...

Major issues with porosity in MIG welds

Took my welder in for service, explained what was going on and they were stumped as well. Got a call 2 hours later saying it was my nozzle! The stop inside the nozzle had broken loose and was letting air in the backside of the nozzle. Crazy! New nozzle and a clean bill of health on the...

Major issues with porosity in MIG welds

That's who I shop and deal with, they are the best in town. And that is where my welder is going this afternoon. I just hate be down without a welder for any amount of time.

Major issues with porosity in MIG welds

Thanks for the tips guys...responces in no particular order... The gun is less than 6 months old, properly seated as I've had that problem before. I'm getting flow just fine, tried different pressures, I can feel the gas coming out, all the ports are clean. I even tried another regulator, same...

Major issues with porosity in MIG welds

I've been having intermittent porosity issues and in the last week they have gotten horrible. I'm running a Millermatic 175 that I have had for several years now with no issues. Today I swapped out the gas and wire. The stinger is less than a year old, new tip, cup, etc. Still have major...

    Show us your welding projects

Had a night off in the shop so made a headache rack for my 1972 GMC. I had it planned out allready. It attaches through the stake pockets so no holes to drill or modifications to the truck. It will get powdercoated white to match the cab. Going to add a few tie down attachements. Then making...
