Had my truck jumped by one of these a week or so ago...I was skeptical when the guy walked over with this little box...but it worked. He said he had used it for a couple of vehicle jumps without recharging it.

Been thinking about getting/making a small fixturing table and ran across this one. http://www.stronghandtools.com/stronghandtools/products/fixturepoint.php NorthernTool has the table with fixture kit for under $500. But the top isn't even 1/4" thick. Debating just making my own Thoughts?

INdeed. I have one of the 3 axis clamps and 4 of the 2-axis clamps. They are spot on, great for everyday use and I use them all the time.

I use Strong Hand clamps, made for welding...I love them and use them all the time. I've also used some plastic and steel wood cornering clamps. They work ok for the job.

Sorry...I usually only work nights...this is my second job. So at max I'm using the welder off and on for 3-4 hours. Grinding is done nearby but not directed at welder. I typically will do 4-6 welds, then let cool for 10-15 minutes, change my jigs then weld again.

In my furniture making biz I mostly do lots of short welds, with 5-10 minutes between rounds. I've been turning my welder off and on between, but recently thought it might be better to leave it running. Thoughts? I'm using a Millermatic 175 that was recently given an excellent bill of health...

That's who I shop and deal with, they are the best in town. And that is where my welder is going this afternoon. I just hate be down without a welder for any amount of time.

Yes, the Evolution saws have a nice heavy cast base...and they aren't cheap either! Just a little follow up. I make alot of miter cuts in steel as well. So I made a little stop that allows me to cut all my pieces to length, then cut the miters. Works like a champ and saves me quite a bit of time.

Terry- I love it, it's awesome. I also have the hand held skil saw type version for cutting plate steel. Imcrazy - I've thought about that because I have to dial it in everytime I convert it to cut 45's. The stop on it isn't quite 45 degrees. But I'm saving up for a TIG welder first!
