PEX confusion - is this just marketing?

I have never had a supply house (plumbing or electrical) refuse to sell to me when I walk off the street. I am a licensed GC but they never ask. If I want trade pricing they ask but for smaller stuff I don't bother. Their off the shelf pricing is close to big box stores. I normally used...

How many light fixtures?? i built a new shed and used the HF fixtures. They work great. My friend did his shop and went down a search rabbit hole. His look great also. I only needed 4 so next time i'm in there I will buy a spare

Size Of Lag Bolt or Alternative to Fasten Unistrut to Garage wall/ceiling

you might need to pick up washers that fit in the track as the strong tie heads are close to the size of the slots in the track. I've used tons of them for structural work. I hung a shelf in my storage shed with the 2 1-2" variety and it's loaded. Look at the various fittings they sell for...

Simpson strong-tie structural screws like the image above work great.

    Concrete floor problems

You mentioned you were having the new floor installed?? If so I would ask them. I don't know what Karndean is? I was a contractor and a project manager for years and I would make sure I had guidance from the installer company who may have a warranty issue with your prep.

Sick of bathroom caulk getting moldy.

I mix bleach and water in a decent spray bottle with the ratio 4 parts water 1 part bleach. Clean out the old grout really well. I use brushes and a razor blade with soft scrub. Once it is squeaky clean spray it to kill the mold, let it dry, rinse. I let it dry for a day or run a fan on it...

Circular saw: Top vs rear handle. Left vs right blade. Worm drive or no. Thoughts?

I have two Skill 77's and both the Milwaukee and Makita versions of the left blade hypoid/worm drive saws. And two corded sidewinders. They all sit in the shed if I'm not cutting concrete which I hire a subcontractor for anyway. I use the Makita 6 1/2" left side blade brushless cordless. I...

What to do with exposed block cavities in garage?

I would use the red duct tape HD sells for stucco installation and tape 4' plastic roll material to both the wall and the floor. Mix up some concrete and fill the cavities after vacuuming them out. The added water won't cause issues. You could drill holes in the plate and add j hook...

Failed GFCI, outlet type. Potential Causes?

Mine seem to age out. Replacing them has been a first step and I have never had to go further. That's the extent of my knowledge ! I totally required in 2010 and half have been replaced

    Using thinset like stucco/lime

look into cement-all or rapid set. I forget which one i’ve seen used to parge concrete formed walls. you’re basically doing a brown coat like stucco so premixed mortar might work. you should look into fabric mesh over joints. it still might crack but might not

Need a new Circular Saw, but what to get?

I have a brushless 18v Makita 6.5 inch blade with the blade on the left like a worm drive. I have 5 corded saws (Milwaukee, Bosch worm drive, Skill 77, etc) sitting in a lock box. I’ve built houses with that and a Makita cordless 36V. If you don’t have a cordless platform buy a saw with the...
