Help with some air compressor restoration issues?

Hey all, I'm semi-restoring a 1940-vintage Kellogg-American K-32D air compressor that I bought a few years ago in anticipation of getting it running again. It did work when I bought it, but there's been some issues and a bit of damage from moving it and I am replacing a bunch of parts. Couple...

    Coating for exposed rigid foam.

I used the Tuff2 on my basement exterior walls to cover ICF foundation foam. Couple observations: first, it is not as durable as I'd hoped. It will take damage from a weedwacker, even one of the smaller battery-operated ones. My solution was to either use wood chips or crushed stone (or weed...

    Air compressor questions

Thanks for the leads. I am very familiar with Jenny compressors; I use them at work to provide continuous air pressure to dry pipe fire sprinkler systems. They are pretty bulletproof. But - way out of my budget. I will look at the Husky, I've never really bothered to pay attention before.

    Air compressor questions

I know there's been several threads in the past couple years on air compressors but I am looking for something specific. I currently have two compressors, a little Porter Cable pancake compressor that's 20+ years old and a 1940-vintage Kellogg-American with a 50-gallon horizontal tank. The...

    HF Central Pneumatic spot blaster

I got one of these Central Pneumatic "Gravity Feed Abrasive Blaster Gun with 20 oz. Hopper", basically a gun with a gravity hopper on top, as a hand-me-down. I've never used it, but I have a bunch of small projects, some garden tools and a couple of tractor implements, that could use some rust...

    Rototiller experience

I have a dozen 4x10 raised beds and a bunch of flower beds that have been tilled regularly for years with an Echo TC2100, which I bought around 30 years ago. Actually it might be a bit older than that. The Echo tillers are made in partnership with Mantis, or were. They put their engines on...

    Price of osb way up!

Re: Anybody else not doing projects due to cost of lumber? I've hired a local guy with a portable mill to cut my own logs for construction lumber. I haven't noticed a big jump in cabinet-grade plywood or hardwoods so for the most part, my projects aren't going to up in cost at this point. I'd...

Priming Plywood In Garage-ink bleed through

I used oil-based Kilz Original to cover the OSB on my shop walls. One coat, plus a topcoat of cheap white satin latex, and nothing bleeds through.

The REST of the hardware storage?

May not be helpful but I try to balance the cost of buying new items vs. buying containers to store stuff in. I have cut way back on the amount of storage bins and totes I need because a lot of the **** I've been hoarding has either been tossed or donated to HFH Restore. There were cans of old...

Milwaukee M12 tools that are worth it?

We use M12 and M18 at my workplace, got a whole bunch of stuff. Favorite M12 tools are the rotary tool (think Dremel), the caulking gun, and the surge hydraulic impact driver. Also have a Fuel hackzall which gets a lot of use. For M18, we have a bunch of drills, hammer drills and drivers, a...

    painting PVC?

If you still want some extra insurance, use Sherwin-Williams Extreme Bond Primer. I use it at work to do just what you are trying to do - paint glossy or difficult-to-paint surfaces. You can use regular exterior paint over it.

What do you organize your sockets with?

I use and like the Olsa socket rails from Amazon.

At what point do you just chuck all of your junk in a dumpster?

This thread has provided me with some inspiration, my wife and I spent a couple hours last night cleaning and organizing a portion of our basement. Found a lot of stuff I want to get rid of. Already posted on FB Marketplace.

    What is this?

It's an axle. I have seen a lot of them in my years being part of a land survey crew. Used to be that whatever chunk of metal you could find, was used as a marker. I've also seen all kinds of pipes including copper and stainless, various steel sections like angle iron, channel and tube stock...
