    used toolbox pricing...really???

They're dreaming in my opinion. It ***** when you spend 25K for a SnapOn box and keep it nice only to not be have to sell it for less than half. I bought a used (3 months old ) Matco triple bank with a hutch that retails for close to 18K for $5200. It's damn near new, blue hammered finish that...

Quality C-Clamps For Changing Brake Pads

Have that same one that's labeled as a Blue Point. Great tool especially for notoriously "tight" calipers, Ford trucks come to mind. For the windback style, I have an OTC kit I bought 20 years ago...works great.

Astro pneumatic 7846 harmonic balancer/crankshaft pulley puller

If the balancer has bolt holes, then yes it will work. Buy a seal from the dealer, no need to save $10 here. If the balancer has a deep groove where the seal sits then replace it. Also don't forget to pack the rear of the seal, where the spring is, with wheel bearing grease to make sure the...

    Jump Pac

Another vote for the JNC660. That thing has started every vehicle I have ever put it on, even in -20 weather. That mini one is surprisingly good as well, my boss bought one when it came out and I laughed at him for buying a $190 phone charger. Next day, dead diesel Ford. The little ******* fired...

    Cleaning/Maintaining hand tools

Every time I put a tool away it gets wiped down with a rag. Only tool I've ever oiled is either an air tool (oil every time I use it first time of the day), and my hand ratchets semi-regularly. As far as corrosion in an I heated space goes, saw something at Menards the other day. Basically...

IR 2135TIMAX $180.44 at Sears Thousand Oaks, CA

You can make a TiMax into a QTiMax by cutting strips of red Scotchbrite and inserting them into the vent at the bottom of the gun. I did mine that way and couldn't believe the difference...I have not noticed any loss of power either.

Got a smoke pro leak detector off craigslist

    milwaukee cordless M12 ratchet issues?

I bought the 3/8ths, used it once, and returned it the next day. I ended up getting the 1/4" and I'm much happier with it. Maybe it's just the thought that a 3/8" should do more, but, in reality they're only 5ft lbs stronger (as advertised).

    Matco Tools

I've had 2 Matco boxes, the first i bought in 88. I still have it at home, 25 years of professional use at roughly 8 different shops and NO issues at all! Never replaced a slide, all drawers work great. (damn sounds like I'm writing a CL ad ). As far as tools go, I have both SO and Matco, each...

Age of flat rate dealer transmission technicians

Working at Chrysler dealers for 15+ years, it seems like most of out trans guys retired early. With the way Chrysler trannys were for many years, those guys made some really really good money. Interestingly, most of the guys were under 5'8", making it a bit easier on the neck. Me at 6'1", my...

Which way do you put your "pliers rack"

Plier rack...aww hell what an idea! Guess I just found a way to free up some space. That means I'll be forced to buy some more tools..damn. Definitely dig the thrift store bath piece idea.

Had me laughing my *** off, then smiling remembering the spinning cubes...ahhhh them were the days.

    Power Probe 3 $65 @ Sears w/Coupon

Yes indeed that was the issue. thanks for all the help, I was certain it was "user error". After damn near half of the day trying to figure it out, I started to look at the master set. My wife came in as I tried for the final time, when she saw that it worked, she said 'order it...NOW". When I...

    Power Probe 3 $65 @ Sears w/Coupon

Wow, why the heck won't this work for me? Tried again from the wifes laptop thinking it was somehow the mobile site doing something wrong. still comes up as $81.68 with the gearwrench socket and save 15. I'm about ready to say screw it and splurge on the $200 master kit with the short...
