What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Hung several sheets of pegboard, installed outdoor security cam, transfered tools and boxes of scrap from shed to shop. Plugged in fridge and added beers, started process of unloading and organizing.

Sealing base rail before install? (Tube Metal building.)

The use case is a tube steeel garage. So, the rail is a 2.5" square base for the building. I will frame out a bathroom inside the building, where I plan to use some of that pink foal sill sealer for that framing to mitigate moisture coming up form the concrete.

Sealing base rail before install? (Tube Metal building.)

Use case is a 24x40 tubular steel metal building. Has anyone laid down a foam seal product like Emseal to sit between the rail and the slab? Did you install it direct to the slab and then let the workers lay the rail on top of it? I am thinking of adhering the foam to the slab prior to them...

    Should lean-to be insulated?

24x40 garage with 12x40 leanto on side. 10’ walls in lean. I’ll enclose back and sides. I’m spray foaming interior of building. Does the lean need vapor barrier of will it equalize with air temp and I won’t worry about rain from inside the lean? Anyone with drip problems in their leans?

    Insulated Garage door or not?

Good advice from a Texan. You know about heat. Thank you.

    Insulated Garage door or not?

I had an uninsulated garage door in Alabama, and the garage faced west. That sucker got HOT! I put those foam panels in it and it helped a little. That is why I am thinking about this now. I have that chance to do the right thing! It will get heat, rain and wind. I think the R13 version...

    Insulate a Leanto?

My bldg will have a 12' lean on one side, with 10' sides. I am thinking of enclosing the end and back, making it a semi-outdoor workspace and storage of "outdoor equipment" out of elements. How many of you have your lean simply metal, or reflective barrier or spray foam? My gut is leaning to...

    Insulated Garage door or not?

About 600$ diff and it’s r13 and r18. I still think I could save $600 which will pay for the garage door openers. Installed price. 1-10'2"x10 Raynor AP138 R-13.45 White 150 MPH wind Rated to steel frame 1-8'2"x8 Same as above .. $4560.00 Same sizes as above AP 200 R-18...

    Insulated Garage door or not?

Not a choice in direction. Main door is facing se, and the other door sw but it’s under a lean, making it shaded. I’ll have 2” foam all around so at least matching that is a good plan I feel.

    Insulated Garage door or not?

That does seem like the best compromise. The main door gets morning and mid day sun. The side door is under a lean so will get no direct sun. Thank you.

    Insulated Garage door or not?

That’s why my choices are r 7, 13 or 22 for the door. I know the difference is not linear of r values so I may opt for 13 like the rest of the building being 2” foam.

    Insulated Garage door or not?

I did say I would not do an ininsulated door. I was wondering if an r7 door is ok with the rest of the building being r13. Or conversely, is an r22 door overkill. I know I’m asking an obvious question but also asked for some real world experiences. Thanks for your input.

    Seal new concrete?

How has it been for you? My slab was just poured and I am curing it now. If my pool area was on a spot entirely inside the building, I would not worry a bit about it. But my pool is right where the building meets the Lean and where my 8x8 side garage door will be. I am debating with myself...

    Insulated Garage door or not?

Looking at Raynor doors for my new metal building. Since I'm on FL, I will be spray foaming 2" in the building for an R value of around 14. I don't want a rollup with R0, and feel it would just absorb and radiate the sun's heat into the building with my 10x10 door. My mind is leaning to the...

    Wiring New Metal Garage

I am new here but I think people are giving advice based on things they learned (or didn't do the first time). I am also building a garage and am making mistakes along the way. In my old house, I had 30amps from the house, feeding into some lights and outlets. I plugged a portable AC in and...
