    MAC & Matco Pry Handles

Out of the three tool trucks mentioned here. The only time I see pry bars warrantied on the regular is Mac and that is because the striking cap has a tendency to break off the Mac handles. Doesn’t really affect the tool besides you can’t hammer on in it but still warranty issues nonetheless

    Snap On ratchet handle preference?

When I started I bought almost all chrome handle. with the odd ball soft or hard handle ratchet. I work out of a service truck and the chrome ratchets get ridiculously hot sitting on whatever I’m working on. I bought a 100 tooth long handle ratchet from my snappy and it had a rough break in but...

Neck Lights... Anyone Have The Milwaukee?

The biggest difference between the Milwaukee and the MATCO was the size. The Milwaukee was a lot tighter and didn’t fit my neck and barely fit my head. My MATCO fits perfectly and 9 out of 10 I wear it on my head. The other difference with the Milwaukee is they are a warmer color more akin to an...

recommendations for scissors for blister packs

I used to use Milwaukee scissors and they do a pretty decent job. I recently picked up this MATCO set and they also do a decent job. Nothing to write home about they just work.

Tell me about 1/4 impact sockets you use and how

I work on equipment that has tons of small fasteners. (Farm and orchard equipment). My Milwaukee 1/4 impact and universal impacts were a game changer for me. My 1/4, 5/16 7/16 9/16 8,10,13 and 15 sockets are all shiny not black anymore from use.

Using crescent wrenches for car repair and what sizes you use?

95% of the use for my crescent wrenches is hydraulic hoses. The other 5% is quick removal of body panels on equipment. Actually wrenching on stuff with adjustable wrenches would stress me out 😅

What are your most and least used 1/4 drive sockets for car work

Once I bought some 12 point semi deep 1/4 sockets from snap on they have been my first out sockets Combine it with the very long handle 1/4 snap on ratchet and you’d be surprised how much of a John Deere tractor you can disassemble with a 10, 13 and 15 mm socket 🤣🤣

    Mac is the new cornwell

Must be your area but up here in NorCal Mac is doing just fine. There are two running around the bigger city next to me and both trucks are absolutely stocked. The one MATCO guy is stocked and busy as hell. It’s snap on that’s struggling in this area. My dealer shut down this summer and the...

Whats killing the traveling tool vendor business

Maybe it depends on individual dealers but I’ve met my dealers all over the place. Other shops, random street corners. They have left stuff for me at dealers where I get parts and they have even let me swing by their house after hours to get stuff switched out. Does harbor freight have a no...

3/8" and 1/2" Drive Sockets, Can I get Away With Impact Only and not Chrome?

I work on farm equipment and run impacts 1/4 to 1/2 as my first sockets I grab. I also have full chrome backups because even in big spacious tractors there have been those times when only a chrome will fit. My last one I remember I had to use a chrome shallow 1 1/4 socket to remove a hydraulic...

    Grease guns

Alemite 500 lever gun with a long *** hose and a locknlube connection. That way you can lock the hose onto the grease fitting and if need be use both hands to pump grease. Obviously you need to be careful with seals but if it’s old and not wanting to take grease this really helps. I switched...

How often do you use 1/2" sockets/ratchets?

I work on our farm equipment as well as a small fleet of Toyota and ford pickups. Anything in cab and most motor stuff gets 1/4 almost everything else gets 1/2. When I work on the pickups it’s almost exclusive 3/8. I don’t know why it’s that way I don’t do it on purpose to use only 3/8 on the...

    Knipex Twin Grip

I got a set of these off the MATCO truck a few weeks ago and holy cow. I love them. just a few days ago I use them to pull out a roll pin that was still 3/4 of the way in. I use them all the time to pull out cotter pins I just grabb the loop end and just yank. the grip strength on them allows...

What do you use your tools on

Napa Carlyle Floor Jack any good?

In my area (NorCal) every farm truck and service track has a yellow jack handle sticking up out of the bed during harvest season. The Napa 3.5 ton jacks are the standard but like others have said are slowly being replaced with harbor freight Daytonas or the random ac delco napa clones at some...
