Agree with the heat. Sometimes just the heat of your hand and some silicone spray lubricant will do it.

Let gravity work for you. A wheeled device, wagon of some kind, loaded with appropriate weight. Rope and pulley. Your load goes up, wagon comes down. Your load comes down, wagon goes up. Proven workable over thousands of years.
