    E-tek Restorations: PROJECT THREAD

Re: E-tek Resto's 56 Chevy Truck Very cool! I can see now why you were so interesting in my old '51 Dodge! I can't wait to see the outcome. Keep up the good work!

I've had it now for about 5 years. The body is the same way I bought the truck. I have however, obtained the original wheels, bias ply tires, refinished the wood in the bed and build the hog racks on the side. Everything on the truck is as original as it can be, with the exception of...

Billy, The echoing off the walls isn't too bad since I there is 6" of insulation behind them. Yes you do get the effect, but it's not unbearable. As far as lighting goes, they are the fluorescent high bay (T5HO bulbs) fixtures. They work really well and I love the light output. If you have...

I don't have any pictures of the truck up on the lift, but I have had it up there plenty of times. Absolutely no problems raising it up high enough to do work underneath. I'll try to get some pictures this weekend to post up there and show you.

Wher to buy a Bend Pak lift

Talk to Dave over at WorkShopDepot.com That's where I purchased mine for a heckuva price. Mention you're on GJ, too... ;)

The interior walls are the same as the exterior walls. They're steel siding, like you'd find on any pole barn. Support the weight of the insulation? I'm not sure what you mean there, but the walls posts are 6x6, spaced 8 feet on center. The siding is then attached to the posts, along with the...

I placed the lift post about 3.5' off of the wall. With the vehicle on the lift, that gives me about 4.5' from the vehicle's tire to the wall. That gives me the right amount of room to pull an axle shaft, if need be. The longest an axle shaft will ever be is 4 feet, so I'm in the clear. But...

It's a truck. Designed here and built here in the USA. It's not a Porsche... It's no different than working on any other truck...

The "auto shop" portion of the building is 32' wide x 40' deep. I placed the lift 18' off of the front wall, so that would place it roughly 22' from the garage door. The lift was centered with the center of the garage door, placing it roughly 3.5' off the side wall. If you need any other...

Ah yes, another one of these guys. And what type of "real" truck do you drive? As far as tools go, I'm filling the shop up slowly but surely. As I get money, I get tools.

Nice obeservation! Though, the majority of the vehicles that will be lifted are trucks and Jeeps. I think the hangers and door are so close to the ceiling that I shouldn't have any problems if the door is up. If I were to put a larger SUV (like a Suburban) on the lift, I would definitely keep...
