    The Machine Work Thread

Exactly. The drive flange is part of the shaft. That's actually a good question, but I'm assuming they are built this way for a reason. These HD shafts were made by a company called Rovertracks. While they are long out of business, the owner was kind enough to send me to drawings for the...

    The Machine Work Thread

I didn't want to post a new thread for this and thought this might be the best place for it. Would anyone in here be interested in a small project? I need to spacers for some Land Rover axle shafts made. I have the shafts but don't have the spacers that came with them (the company that made them...

    Headlight Aimers

I have two headlight aimers for sale. The first one is a 2004 Sniper headlight aimer. Our dealership was required by the manufacturer to purchase this as a special tool, but it is not approved for state inspections in Va. Because of this, its pretty much never been used. It has been sitting in...

    Snap On Radiator Pick Set

I use mine all the time at work. Its nice to have the different angles for hard to reach hose. As someone else said, they are great for unhooking hard to reach electrical connectors as long as you don't break the connector clips off.

    BMW Tools...?

On Land Rovers (owned by BMW from 1996-02) I just use a cheap ball joint puller.

is there any hope for this snap on toolbox?

Unless you could get it for free I wouldn't think it'd be worth the trouble and money to fix it.

    Flat Rate Mechanics

Nope. You have to pay to play. If you are going to spend $50-100k on a car you better have the money to fix/maintain it. In our area we actually have one of the lowest labour rates of all the dealerships. Even the local Ford dealership charges more per hour than us. The majority of new LAnd...

    Flat Rate Mechanics

That's all you charged for an alignment? We charge $199 for a four wheel alignment, although we have to put the cars into a "tight tolerance mode" with the diagnostic computer. An alignment pays 3 hours at our shop.

    Flat Rate Mechanics

I work at a Land Rover dealership, they hardly have any labour times in the book for things that actually need to be replaced/rebuilt on the newer models. pretty much anything after '05 in inaccurate/nonexistent.

    Flat Rate Mechanics

Not always, at least not when the vehicles you work on don't have labour guides listed for most jobs. A lot of time the labour guides are wrong in my experience. We can just make up our own labour times in a lot of cases if they are reasonable. We're not out to screw the customer either, we want...

Tools that allow you to beat book time (or work faster)

No one likes come backs, but I'll take a couple of come backs with a 60-70 hour week over having a 35 hour week any day.

Tools that allow you to beat book time (or work faster)

The best way to beat book times is to stay clear of any manufacturer warranty. But seriously, my biggest time saver recently has been my cooling system vacuum filler.
