    Starter tool box for youngsters

I suggest a PH2 and a Pz2 screwdriver, or a set of bits, and remember to teach them the difference too :)

    Toolbox with Pegboard?

This is similar to what we have at work for bigger and heavier tools. Different brand, but it’s in Finland anyway :)...

Seller wants more than twice what a brand new one costs for this identical used rusty tool???

Well, that’s a worn out sprocket someone has thrown away. When chain sprockets wear, the teeth become narrow like that, and eventually it will ruin the chain too. Compare to a picture of a new sprocket and see the difference. A new sprocket is typically 15-25 bucks.

    “For display only”

”Use, but don’t abuse” is my guideline. I can relate to the ”nod to the previous owner” mentioned earlier, as my FIL passed away last summer and left a lot of tools. My son and I are the only ones in the family that do stuff, so we took the most of it. So, every time I use the big blue drill...

Who loves there Robo grips, because I do

Love is a strong word, but I do have 3 or 4 pairs of RoboGrips. Bought a set in 2000. They are not perfect, but work ok for light duty stuff, like model engine parts, pipe fittings and the like that don’t require (or stand) a lot of force. I know they are flimsy, and prone to slip if you force...

Lean To Sauna Build - With UPDATED Pics 1/16/23 - Custom door, etc...

A traditional, easy and quite a safe way to heat water in a sauna is to have a metal water tank on the side of the kiuas (stove), or around the first couple of feet of the steel chimney. Some folks have added a coil in the water tank, so they can have running warm water. Traditionally...

    tool colors?

I think there would be more color choice, if the color was considered important. I guess most people don’t care what color the handles are. I have some Bahco screwdrivers that have mostly black handles, but the end caps of the handles are different colours on Pz, Ph and flat. I find it useful...

Anyone use plastic storage bins on shelves instead of tool cabinets/boxes?

I like to keep my most-often used tools on the wall, the not-so-often used ones in drawers, and job-specific and/or rarely used tools and supplies are in bins, not necessarily in the shop area. If I have spares or multiplies of some tools, they go to tubs too. So, I use a combination of the...

What is the best way to paint a shop floor in stages?

My garage/shop is only 18’ by 11’, and the plan is to move the motorcycles, stools, trash bins etc out to the porch, then all the shelves, workbenches in the middle of the floor. Then paint the floor close to the walls, and after that has dried, move the shelves, benches etc back to their...

Things that go out of date because of technology get tossed , then years later people want the "old"

Captain Obvious here… Just about any gas guzzling pos when it’s 5-10 years old. Another 30 years go by and it’s a classic 😄 About hi-fi, I found it strange when I heard about LP’s making a comeback. They never went anywhere! I currently run a 50-year-old Lenco that replaced my 1979 Technics a...

    Using only impact sockets

I use impact tool very rarely on anything except wheel lugs. Hence, my socket sets are ”chrome”. For the impact use I have the 17 and 19 mm sockets that I need for wheel changes, plus a couple of others that came with my el cheapo electric impact. I already had my manual socket sets when I...

What's the biggest socket size you have ?

Inch and a half. Glad I found a used one for cheep as it’s only used for one specific purpose, and hopefully not often. It’s a Stahlwille I think. I don’t work on heavy machinery, I think my 1/2” Bahco set only goes up to 32mm metric and 1-1/4” SAE.
