Making tape for curved paint lines?

Search for "Fine Line Tape" this will give you a narrow sharp line, and then you can back this up with conventional masking tape.

    Fabrication Bench Build

Good to see another Brisbanite! The welding table came up really well, where did you source the clamps from? I'm only new to machining and am learning something new every time I go in the shed, I came across this little revelation on one of the machining forums a little while ago, you still...

    Probing automotive connectors

Put a piece of thin heat shrink over the end of your probe and shrink it away from the tip, this should give you enough wiggle room to slide it onto the pin you want to test. I t might take a couple of goes to get the size you're looking for.

Roller cabinet recommendations in Australia - $1k

I have 2 of these and 1 top box. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MAXIM-42-Tool-Cabinet-11-Drawer-Toolbox-Chest-Trolley-Box-Roller-Garage-Auto-/330733802222?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4d014552ee Holds tools, opens and closes and rolls with ease, not sure why people are infatuated with spending...

Isn't it about time the world decided to go all metric or imperial..?

Australia was metricated in the 60's and yet we still have a lot of builders hardware in imperial, and cars manufactured as lat as the early 90's had a mix of metric and imperial, So I can't see imperial fasteners disappearing for another 100 or so years. Besides we are all doomed until we stop...

Want to own a cheap smoke machine?

Yes, spray a very light mist on manifold surfaces, hose joints etc, the engine will "pick up". Sure there is probably a chance, I can't say I've heard of anyone having a fire from it. You could probably use diesel/kerosene based degrease if you were that concerned.

Want to own a cheap smoke machine?

I read the first few pages of this thread and thought this was a piss take. Then I realized it is a serious thread. FYI Small self contained vac leak detector, works on carb or efi cars, no need to disconnect anything, nor block anything

    Die Grinder Attachments

I seriously don't seen how anyone who uses grinders and cutoff wheels for auto body restoration could leave a guard on. I always use 1mm disks on a 5 1/2" grinder and modified a cheap 3" cuttoff witha mandrel to take my worn down disks. I have had probably 3 disks let go this year, and probably...

Set up time vs project time

As far as workshop improvements go, I'm doing them bit by bit as time allows and when something has got under my skin enough that I just have to fix/do it or I will go postal such as the fold away wall I did recently. Tooling for projects gets done on a needs basis, and I don't consider it as...

    Soda Blasting

+1 I restore cars for a living and having been bitten with soda blasting I refuse to touch a car that has been soda blasted. Soda leaves a film that is near impossible to remove, I have tried water, vinegar, acids and nothing will completely remove it reliably. It also doesn't key the surface...
