So a while ago I posted this
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47692

I figured it was about time I put this Idea into action.

Temporary "wall" that has now been there for nearly 3 years :(

Wow I forgot how big my shed is

New frame going in, I'm using steel studs and noggins as its cheaper and far lighter then using timber.

Sorry I didn't put the link in, now fixed. The wall will roll against the end of the shed, so when not in use the shed is full size.

Great idea and well executed- are you using the movable partition to create a painting area?

Give this man the "idea of the summer" award!

How are you keeping it rigid and plumb when you move it?

Thanks Guys! I can't take credit for the idea, I just changed it to suit my needs.

So, in Australia, we call the vertical members in a wall studs, and the horizontal ones noggins, more correctly noggings

Yes it is my spray room, hopefully things will be easier being a lot cleaner and brighter, having said that this was painted in the previous version

It is winter, so I made this a few weeks back to keep the chills away during evening work/bbq's

Between, the metal frame, the sheeting and the track/wheels its seems pretty rigid, I can move it by myself, Plumb isn't so much of a concern when it's in the "out" position the wall locks via bolt latches to the portal frame, as well as the sheeting on the paint side is also larger then the portal, so it works as a seal as well.

The track at the top is strong enough to support the wall and basically hold it up. The cradle has 4 rubber coated bearings on top of the track and 2 on the sides to locate it.

Started wiring up the fluro's I had to make my own troffers as I needed very shallow reflectors due to the size of the wall cavity. I rebated around the light for the glass covers to be flush with the wall.

IMAG0138.jpg

Now that I have them all working, I just have to tidy up the wires. The fluros have fittings that clip on the end of the tube, and then the tube is pressed into the clip, hence why the wiring looks a little haphazard.

The sliding wall, has a junction box with a flying lead that plugs into a power point.

Next job is to finish off any screws I missed, then start sealing all the joints, filling the screw holes, and then waterproofing before paint.

Very slick idea! Could you specify your materials list? Is it aluminum 'C' channel used throughout? Paneling and fastener type, if you please. What is used for air change/filtration? How will you keep the light bezels from getting misted over? How do you control paint booth temperature when shooting? How do you keep the wall from twisting side-to-side when moving it in or out?
Inquiring minds want to know!:lol_hitti

Sure,

This is the channel
http://www.01peer.com/index.php?pg=prod&sub=prodsws

Wall sheets are waterproofed 3mm MDF
Screwed off with 7g countersunk self tapping screws
Static air at the moment, But I use a fresh air hood, Stage 2 will be air flow filtration/control.
The fluros will have 4mm toughened glass covers
Temperature isn't a problem here still hitting 20-24*C in winter.
The wall rolls pretty freely, so just taking it easy and gentle, pushing in the middle is pretty hassle free.

This is in the mid position

Got some primer down finally

I'm not painting the outside of the sliding wall at this stage, as the rest will be painted in high gloss white enamel, but that wall may be painted in auto paint and then cleared :D
