    Solvent gloves for stoddard

I used to work for an industrial cleaning company, and used dozens of gallons of a safety solvent a day. The safety solvent was very similar to a Stoddard solvent. We used various types of nitrile gloves as that is what the MSDS (now SDS?) called for. When in doubt, reference the safety data...

    Liftmaster LM3800 Annoyance

Could your signal be getting affected by LED lights in your garage? There is a frequency crossover potential.

    Extreme Garage Makeover

So, you want to replace the roof structure, reside it, and basically reframe it? I would tear the POS down salvaging what you can (sounds like just the 2x framing from your description) and rebuild on the same footprint if you are happy with the size. This will give you the structure you really...

Garage Door Opener: belt vs. screw vs. chain vs. jackshaft for cold weather

Lived in Wyoming my whole life. My grandfather has a home repair business, and we always install chain drives as there are never call backs. Read the manual and set it up right. One of my buddies is installing a Liftmaster 8500 right now. Unfortunately I have a broken leg and cannot help. I am...

    2 post lift questions

To get axle weights, go to a weigh station/scale found at port of entries, recyclers, waste disposal facilities, quarries, truck stops, granaries, etc. Weigh one axle at a time. This will give you front weight, rear weight, and added together will give you total weight. It may cost a few bucks...

    Broken Wilton Bullet vise

Old thread, I know, but I cracked my father's large Wilton bullet vice when I was in high school. I took it to a local welder and paid him to weld it up for me. No idea how he did it, but it worked and is still working today several years later. My advice to anyone else in this situation that...

    2 post lift questions

Weigh your truck's front and rear axles with a typical day-to-day load. If both axles are under 4500lb each, then a 9000lb lift should be good to go. If you have 5000 on the front and 4000 on the rear, I would be looking at a 10,000lb lift. Let's say, for example, my diesel dually weighs less...

Investing in a cordless system: Ridgid Gen5x or Milwaukee M18 Fuel?

I use Milwaukee at work, and Makita at home. Never have used a Ridgid power tool (unless vacuums count, haha). The Milwaukee stuff is awesome for sure, though.

    Rust repair advice.

Disregard my color comment then. Hopefully it is not rusting through from the back, but it is pretty likely.

    Rust repair advice.

Is that the diamond tri-coat pearly white paint? If so that may be why no one wants to touch it. That paint is expensive and a pain in the *** to match. I have a suburban this color, and it is very expensive to get any paint work/body work done on it. Looks good when new though, for sure.

Just in case anyone is in the market for one.

Not necessarily, at least in my state. I do a lot of work in schools and other government buildings doing HVAC retrofits and renovations. There is tons of asbestos still in buildings used every day. As long as it cannot be accessed by the general public, it is generally left alone. When a...

    building an Auto Shop/Garage

I use sweethome3D. Maybe not the best, but it is free and what I have been using. I have used autoCAD and solidworks in the past, but no longer have access to those programs.
