Why the funny angle on this wrench?

Why the funny angle on the right side of this wrench? I've done lots of wrenching and run into my share of tight spots. What can this angle do that the left side couldn't?

    Coupon codes!

I just placed an order to Filter1.com. I did not see the usual box for coupon codes. Have they discontinued the practice?

Do you really need POR-15 if you're down to bare metal?

I saw a bench vise at costco today

To add... At work we use a bench vise to hold metal while we snap it in two with a hammer for one of our tests. One vise broke from the abuse. While shopping for a replacement, I had a range of choices... from $25 to $300. Considering the abuse we give the vise, I didn't want to spend a lot...

What do you do with used degreaser?

Because DOT regulations limit transporation of oil to 5 gals before you need a license.

another one for the vise experts

Wow!... I didn't know they were that expensive! I have two of them with 5-1/2" jaws - one in the garage and the other in my basement. They were salvaged from the trash at work. They were thrown out because they got bent from abuse. Some filing brought them back in alignment.

Building Your Own Work Bench And Cabinets

I perfer having no cabinets in the workroom. The doors get in the way. I like to quickly grab things and move on. No cabinets under the bench either. It's ergonomically easier if you can tuck your feet under the bench while working. It reduces the amount of bending over and back fatigue.

What do you do with used degreaser?

Is this fluid petroleum based? I would filter it through paper towel and dump it in your gas tank in small doses. Win-win.

new usa made vise, what would you pay

Consider using austempered ductile iron. It's gained considerable popularity over the past 30 years as a way of making cast iron very strong.

    Who sells a decient shovel?

That's welded, not forged. Otherwise, I'll take your word for it.

    Who sells a decient shovel?

For a good shovel, look for one that is made of forged steel, not stamped steel. The last time I saw one was 20 years ago in Frank's Nursery.

School me on oxy/act tanks please.

I'm an occasional user of oxy-acetylene. I bought the set mainly to loosen rusty automotive bolts and sometimes braze metals together. I bought the "44" size shown in the picture, and I've only half emptied the tanks after 34 years.

    Grinding Wheel Decisions.

I like the finer wire wheels, such as 0.008" wire diameter. It's better for cleaning up rusty threads and brake parts, and can put a polish on brass. Coarser wheels, though more aggressive at removing rust, cold work the metal substrate surface. Too rough for my tastes. Find what suits your...

    Tie rod troubles

Turtle, start by squirting some penetrant a day or two before digging into the job. Heck, next time you're under the car, try to loosen the assembly for some peace of mind. Once loosened, the job is half done.

    Tie rod troubles

Ditto - heat and wax. I had to use that technique recently to get a tie rod off.
