1 3/4" Angle to support workbench top?

Yep, this is just a workbench. I have a separate 2'x4' welding table with 3/8" steel top. It's on casters, and I want to be able to roll it under this workbench. Good idea. Instead of welding up one big L-shaped workbench, maybe I'll weld up two rectangular ones that bolt to each other in an...

1 3/4" Angle to support workbench top?

I drill a hole on the corner of the hitch receiver tubing, weld a nut on the outside, and then I tighten a bolt through the hole against the corner of the drawbar. It's on the corner so it takes up slack in both directions at once. I got the idea from a thread on here years ago.

1 3/4" Angle to support workbench top?

The angle would form a tray that the plywood sits in. There'd be angle around all 4 sides of each segment of wooden top, maybe with mitered corners. I took pics with 2" angle because that's all I had onhand. With 1 3/4" angle, the top edge of the steel will be level with the top edge of the...

1 3/4" Angle to support workbench top?

I'm building a workbench. My workshop isn't very big so I'd like to be able to slide my welding table under the workbench when I'm not using it, and then roll it out to the middle of the room for welding or to use as an additional workbench when I do need it. What do you think of using 1 3/4"...

thoughts about something different HF 44"

How do you go about doing that? I'm interested in drawers and slides for putting in a welding cart, not sure where to get them from. Haven't seen any sold a la carte.

    Small Motorcycle Garage Renovation

I'm curious too. Looks a lot like one from harbor freight, but without the crossbar up front: http://www.harborfreight.com/motorcycle-stand-wheel-chock-97841.html Another question: do you ever use a front stand on top of the box, so you can get the wheel off and/or unweight the suspension? -...

Two attached garages, which should be the shop?

I've been looking for a house in Boulder, CO on and off for a few years, there's really nothing available with a great garage. Now I'm considering building, and am wondering what the best configuration is. I just saw this house online (unfortunately in Oregon!), and am considering doing...

2 Post Lifts / Low Ceiling Height (10.75')

I know you said 2 post, but have you considered an in-floor scissor lift? There's been a bunch of GJ threads on them, this was the first a search turned up: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35433

Harbor Freight 13 drawer tool boxes $271.99

Mine came fully assembled, with some styrofoam padding in a cardboard box, inside a rather flimsy shipping crate. It didn't fit in my WRX (1" too wide!), but fit a Ford Expedition fine. I'm sure it'd fit in a Yukon. At the store they loaded it up, but at home you probably want someone to lend...

    Grainger/Miller Welder deal thread

Got a phone call, was told the price was an error. Also got an email: I'm not sure which item that 30% off applies to, I don't see the old item anymore, just this one: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/MILLER-MIG-Welder-5GVY9 30% off of that would be $773.50, a bit less than the $826 others...

    Appartment Garage

Wow, awesome shop/house! I'd love to find something like that in my area. The first part is just geometry. Displacement of a cylinder is pi*stroke*(bore/2)^2, multiply that by rpm and you get volume/minute of air going in to the compressor. You probably have bore and stroke in inches and...

    HOT DEAL Index!!

Wow, amazing deal! I almost bought a Miller 211 for $1100, then saw this deal and jumped on it. It would have been nice to have the dual voltage of the 211, but not for 2.5x the price :D. - Miles

What's the name of this type of vise?

Didn't get it, it went for $95. I probably would have bid a bit more if I was there in person and could slap down the money and walk out with the vise. It wasn't set up like ebay where it ends at a fixed time, instead they did the auction in person, and I think started the bidding where the...

Playing with Sketchup, rate my build

What are your plans for the stairs for the apartment? If they're enclosed, you might want to consider putting stuff underneath them like the compressor, water heater, or just shelves. If they aren't enclosed, you might still consider using the space underneath (externally accessible) for...

What's the name of this type of vise?

Heh, I think you're right. Just saw this post on the main page: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104471 So it's a "swiveling rear jaw" vise. Did a search on that, saw this thread here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=68478 It's Schiller Park and not Chicago...
