    forgotten named older tools

I have a couple of each, love the old Wright & JH Williams tools. I rate them right up there with my old Plomb tools. They're pure USA beef. I also have quite a few old Bonney wrenches & sockets. Love em. I have a couple of M Klein & Sons- Chicago USA wrenches (re badged Bonney) that are my...

    What is it?

Nice find! Someone didn't care enough to keep it secured. Finders keepers as far as I'm concerned unless it has contact information somewhere on it. No way in hell would I leave a $400 tool unsecured.

Anyone still use an old air compressor tank? 40yrs old?

We have a 500 gal tank at work, it's plumbed into 5 different shops & fed by a massive compressor, I forget the make but it's huge. It wouldn't fit in my living room. Original build date for both is 1943.

    Help with grinder rebuild

Here's the finished grinder. What I wouldn't give if the local stores carried balanced stones & wire wheels. The stone is off just a hair, but the wire wheel looks like it was assembled by a drunk. It's going back tomorrow. Even with it out of round, the coast down time has tripled with the...

    Help with grinder rebuild

Well, I'm just about to finish up this rebuild. I got the grinder all buttoned up last night. The reassembly was pretty easy overall. To get the bearings back in, I put the ends of the grinder in the oven at 225 for about a half hour. I put the bearings in my deep freezer overnight. They went...

    help identifying: antique Blacksmith anvil/vice

It's an interesting piece. I would give it the works & make it look like new. The fact that it's as old as it is & has held up well over the years warrants a full restow.

If it tests ok, I would have no problem using it.

This bench grinder worth the $

I've been on the lookout for quite some time for an old C man block grinder. I would gladly give $40 for that one. I say go for it.

Step Bits (Uni Bits), Do You Use Them? If so, please advise.

I have the HF 3 pack, got it for $17 IIRC. I was leery about them at first but after a year of regular use they're holding up well. I've used them on everything from plastic to heavy steel. No complaints.

Thoughts on craftsman 309 peice tool set

It's a good buy. As stated, IF it's American made, the weakest link will be the ratchets.

    help me ID these pliers

Man that's a tough one. I've never seen that logo & Alloy Artifacts is a bust. The B sure looks like the Bonney B minus the shield. Good looking set of pliers tho.
