Another 44" Harbor Freight Tool Box Wood Workbench

ubermick, Sorry for the slow reply, I hope you got your tool boxes! I was able to man handle the tool boxes with the drawers removed by myself. So yes, y'all can move them.

The height from the floor to the top of the butcher block top is 40". This is about as tall as I'd want it. The only way I could have made it any lower would be to put the bottom 2x4 flat on the floor, instead of on it's side. (Or use a 2x2 instead). If I had to do this over again I would...

Thanks for the very kind words Mr. Carpenter. That is a great idea about the sacrificial piece to protect the bench. Thanks for sharing, I may have to do that. I also have a large wire spool that I use to glue/hammer/drill on.

Thanks to all for the kind words. I primed it with one coat of Kilz and two coats of Rustoleum. All oil base and all brushed on.

Yes sir Parrothead, I made all of the cabinets to the left, including the rail and stile doors. First time for everything. The cabinets above the workbench were purchased from Lowe's, but I think I matched the door pattern pretty close.

These are the lights I went with. I thought they would work good for this application: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KNSVL4I/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 They are remote controlled, fully dimmable, and even has color LED's for those garage parties. :beer2: :deathmeta

No, the frame is 2x4 pine wood. The cabinets came from Lowe's. I was going to build them, but I had a 10% off coupon, so it wasn't really worth it. I will build the cabinets that are going to the left, however. I'm also planning on getting a new stool. :rocker:

Thanks for all the kind words. Whiteydogone, you're really not gonna like the matching cabinets I'm about to build to the left then. ;) The top is made out of 10' pine 2x4's. It ended up being about 9'9" long and 30" deep. It weighs about 160 pounds. I glued it up in three pieces so I...

Tool chest review - Sears, Tractor Supply, Lowes, Home Depot, Harbor Freight

Has anyone taken two of these 44" HF boxes, removed the casters, and put a wood top on the two to make a permanent workbench? Some space between the two would allow for your legs to go under the bench top while seated on a stool. thanks! -Kyle
