Agree with this. If it is a work top that will be used then it doesn't matter what it looks like because it will get abused anyway. Just put something on it cheap and easy to remove. Hot glue or epoxy will do the job if you do not want screws showing.

Is it possible to build a simple lean-to on the side of the house? You could get a lot of materials from your local rubbish tip and also something like freecycle (not sure what you have that is similar over in the states where people advertise stuff they want taking away for free). Simple and cheap.

Thanks for the advice. I plan to simply change the engine and gearbox oil plus upgrade the brake lines and fluid. That will be it for the first track day (Probably Brands Hatch Indy). If all goes well i will upgrade the brakes and tires but that is as far as i will go.

I do get damp on one side but my neighbors garden is built up against the wall so it holds moisture. For a garage i think it is fine unless you are working in it everyday in the winter.
