I’ll take pics tomorrow. It’s a vintage machinist vise. Can’t find anything here, on vintage machines, or on vintage vices sites. Modern equivalent is the 6 inch and it has the swivel base. https://wiltontools.com/vises/machine-vises/milling/verti-lock-vises/
The numbers stated are stamped on...
I’ve attempted a Hein-Werner WS and an OTC 5212. The HW was mine and just needed a rebuild as it was leaking. I sent it to Metro Hydraulic in NJ.
The OTC 5212 was in a junkyard. After reassembly, the pump piston leaked. This piece is chromed ($214). The chrome layer adds just enough...
I’ll add mine. All cleaned up for $75. I’ll blast and powder coat someday the original light industrial green. Date code 3-53. I would have kept the original jaws but they were remakes and didn’t sit flush.
I have the same one. I’m going with 8450. Maybe those were the part numbers or their casting came out looking like a 9. My original color was a light industrial green. I’m keeping it bare metal for now. The jaws were not parallel. I found that out when I replaced the inserts. I’ll fully...
Thanks for a lengthy thread. It’s amazing that you can’t just buy the Chrysler/GM/Ford/BMW etc app for say $500/manufacturer then pay like $500 per year for everything for that manufacturer AND do it all from your preferred tablet.
I get the proprietary manu-dealer relationship exclusivity, but...
I just got a 900 off of Craigslist. This thing was so nasty. No rust though. Someone added a Zep filter to it. I may keep that in line with the flex hose.
I just had a local buyer. Thanks for the interest and conversation everyone. When I get around to finishing my at home workshop I will post pics. The other parts of this forum have already been very helpful and thought-provoking.
I hate to take them for scrap, but that's what I'll probably do. I know they're huge and weigh a ton.
I'll accept any reasonable offer, and this is the last time I'll bump this post.
Thanks.
Shipping dimensions and weight are:
Wix Filters 21" x 22" x 41", weight is about 25-30lbs + 10 for binder holders.
Master 20" x 21" x 33", weight is about 15-20lbs + 10 for binder holders.
I'd probably ship the holders in a separate box to cut down on the size/weight penalty of the larger box.
