    Mounting 50K big maxx?

    I did just as you described and ran some plywood across trusses and used construction lags to hold everything in place. I mounted the heater to the plywood at that point. It is rock solid on the ceiling now.

    I was looking at the same line of heaters, although from Menards. I ended up going with the 50k unit. My garage is similar to yours in size and windows, although my windows are currently old single pane glass (this needs to be replaced). I just did my walls with R-19 and will be blowing R-39...

    You could so long as clearance to combustibles can still be met for the fireplace venting system in chase. You will also want to put a wall pass-through/fire stop at the penetration to the chase.
