What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The rotors were only 9 months old. Unfortunately, she broke her ankle in January and couldn't drive for 2 months. The back side of the rotors had minor pitting. What can we do?

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

My neighbor's 2018 Tiguan failed NYS inspection for a broken coil spring and "rotted out brake rotors. Before: After, new struts, ball joints, sway bar end links and brakes. She also needed a new blower motor fan: Did I mention how much I like to work under dashboards. It wasn't too...

Do you provide food/drinks to a work crew?

Is that because you are only in your mid 60's? 4 years ago my neighbor hired a tree service to remove 10 trees. I helped out, ran the chipper, loaded logs in the dump trailers, and used my own chainsaws to cut up limbs. At the end of the day, the owner thanked me for helping, gave me $500 and...

Do you provide food/drinks to a work crew?

I think providing food and drinks is the right thing to do. Of course, I am too young to hire work crews because I am only in my early 60's. When my friends or family work together, there is always food, drinks and snacks. When people who I know hire a crew, I suggest that they treat them the...

Auto mechs, how often do you use deep sockets? Would you miss them?

I agree wholeheartedly. I use the shallowest and tightest fitting tool available when I need to break a large, tight, or corroded fastener free while using hand tools. Impact gun use is obviously a different story. I use deep 1/4" sockets primarily for hand clearance. My Snap-on bent...

    Triple square set recommendations

I just replaced a wheel bearing on a Passat this past weekend. I used the triple square sockets I mentioned in post #18, I wire brushed the heads of the fasteners and had to tap the sockets into the fasteners. They have been consistently tight in the fasteners with no wobble since I purchased...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Makes perfect sense. Unfortunately, if I were to drill two 4" holes in my wife's car I would probably hear things like: "My car is making a weird noise now, do you think it is the holes that you drilled in my car." "The gas mileage isn't what it used to be, do you think it is the holes that...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Second oil change that I have done on this 2008 Yamaha Vino 125. I changed all of the fluids last year when I purchased the scooter with 282 miles on it. Obviously, the previous owner let it sit for a long time. This evening after the oil change, it has a whopping 580 miles on the odometer.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Not my vehicle, the owner has 4 kids in college and is on a tight budget. If it were my vehicle and I was preparing it for the after life, I would do "everything" while I was in there. Peace of mind and efficiency are more important to me than the cost of a few parts.

Everytime I finish up working in the garage I charge batteries, headlamps, and work lights. These are currently in my Amazon cart as a backup pair of lights. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FX4NYPTW?tag=atomicindus08-20

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I just did a fingernail smash about 10 days ago working on some plumbing. I had to poke a hole in the nail to let the blood out, it doesn't look bad at all now. Sometimes there is a price to pay for progress.

The sale price, inconvenient magnetic locations, and aluminum hoods convinced me to purchase this light bar.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

All of the early motorcycles I worked on were pretty basic to service. I don't even remember how many pieces and fasteners need to be removed in order to access the battery on my BMW R1100RT. It isn't that I can't do the work, it just seems overly complicated for what is accomplished, and the...
