NEVER trust the diagnosis of someone else. Find out what the complaint is and do your own, even if you have to do what they did and come to the same diagnosis. There is the exception, if the customer or whoever is paying you says, do "this" and do it "this way", then if it backfires you can...

A lot of cordless drills have a speed control switch as well as a direction control switch, the direction control often has a lock position in the middle. Don't know what the lock mechanism is or how strong it is, worth a look though.
