Help me find a concealed hinge

I am fitting out a pretty large library right now and there is a "secret door" involved....before I started preparing the drawings I did a full size mock up pretty much following the direction that was in the link, after messing with the Rixson hinges a bit it worked perfectly Good luck!

I think the easiest and cheapest way, if you are going to do it... Buy some 1/2" sheets of micore, have your wife pick some fabric, let the fabric run past the substrate, pull tight and fold the corners like you were wrapping a Christmas present and staple it in. If doing big pieces you may...

Go to a local cabinet shop and ask him to order it for you, I do it for people fairly often....if they are not total jerks I don't charge any mark up. Maybe you can get the same shop to cut, bore and band your pieces for you also.

mounting a butcher block top to a steel frame.

Against a wall the .75 x 6 would probably be fine...as far as where to buy you could try stopping at a local cabinet/woodworking shop, I would think they would be happy to mill and sell you a strip of maple much cheaper then you could buy from a retailer In my shop I buy select hard white maple...

mounting a butcher block top to a steel frame.

I would probably weld in a piece of pre drilled, countersunk flat stock where the two tops meet to help support the joint, maybe just ease the two meeting edges...and throw in a couple biscuits or spline to keep them aligned. Make sure to drill oversized screw holes, I would use fender washers...
