So, I ended up returning the 3/8 hoses and filter and switched to 1/2 hoses and filter. I will then use a 1/2 to 3/8 reducer at the hose reel.

This is what I am planning. Compressor - 1/2 Ball Valve - 1/2 to 3/8 Reducer - 3/8 3' WHIP - 3/8 Air Filter - 3/8 3' WHIP - 3/8 Hose Reel with 50' hose.

I think that this is probably what I will do. Does anyone make a switch that I could use to switch between two appliances? For example, have the ability to switch the water heater on or the air compressor on or both off.

Any ideas?
