thanks for all the feedback on the battery charger. i also thought it belonged in a museum when i first saw it sitting under the bench at the garage sale. i will have to research that possibility when i get some free time.

the finned tube connecting the the two cylinders is the "intercooler" and the small tank under the pump is the "after cooler" with a drain plug to drain off the water. i have one similar in style from the 1920's i will post on here when i finally figure out how to post pics.
i finally was able to remove the valve assembles......long time soaking in liquid-wrench and light tapping with hammer. found some broken valve springs which i a am sure would affect the performance of the pump.
