hello from little dog in northern ca (go giants). have been visiting here off and on, always gleaming useful information along the way. recently came across a 1968-9 vintage k-a 331 (pump and tank only) made for sears that was cheap enough to take a chance on a rebuild. i will want to replace the valve components but can not figure out how to remove them. i am guessing that they are screwed in and should be unscrewed to remove, but dang, they will not budge. using liquid-wrench, have not tried heat yet, but do not want use to big of a hammer (with the special valve tool). so, any ideas are welcome. will include pics when i figure out how to.......... great site, should be fun............littledog

Firstly welcome aboard from downunder..

May I suggest that you start a thread in the General Tool Discussion section of the forum, as you will capture a much bigger audience and I am sure some of our learned members can help you with your dismantling problems. Pics will help as well.

As always enjoy..

i finally was able to remove the valve assembles......long time soaking in liquid-wrench and light tapping with hammer. found some broken valve springs which i a am sure would affect the performance of the pump.
