x2 on flap discs, much easier to use without grinding too far.

    Insulating ceiling

I don't think you need a vapor barrier for a garage, but I could be mistaken. As for those with the ceiling already sheetrocked and wanting to insulate: do you have any rooms above the ceiling? or is it just open attic? If it's open attic, then I'd suggest doing blow-in with access via the...

    OFFICIAL THREAD: Genius Storage Ideas

I'll have to take an updated picture, but these are overhead cubicle cabinets that my office was getting rid of. They're Steelcase brand, and very heavy duty. The probably weigh about 80# each. I've taken those 2 down and sold them to a friend, but I've replace those 2 with 4 equal-sized...

    Cabinet Colors

I'll see if I can get a picture in the next couple of days. I don't remember what I used, I was a poor college student back then so I probably bought whatever was cheap/plentiful like some Minwax or something.

    Cabinet Colors

I refinished an old teacher's desk with 2 different colors of stain/varnish. One was a natural/clear finish, the other was a "cherry" color. This is the only pic I have online: People find it hard to imagine that this desk sat in some guy's backyard for 2+ years and survived the flood of 1997...

2 Story House with 1 A/C, never stops during the day and won't get below 78?

I just looked on an online Air Conditioning Size calculator for my zip code vs. Dallas for the same size house. Just FYI: Longmont, CO: 3.6 ton Dallas, TX: 5 ton

2 Story House with 1 A/C, never stops during the day and won't get below 78?

Keep in mind this varies depending on where in the country you live. Dallas has probably much higher requirements for AC units compared with Boise, Idaho. For what it's worth, we have a similar situation with our 2-story house in Colorado. Undersized AC unit (builder's grade, cheap) combined...

Where do you store your power tools?

They're awesome, and very heavy gauge steel. Keep an eye out on your local Craigslist, there are always companies getting rid of cubicles and these types of cabinets. I'm afraid to tell you how much I paid for these 2 :D

Where do you store your power tools?

Currently in the process of adding more of these to the garage (picked them up at work). They're the overhead cabinets from the Steelcase cubicles:

    "re-purposed First Aid cabinets

I think it was this thread that gave me the idea to repurpose some cubicle overhead cabinets. We're replacing many Steelcase cubicles and they have the same cabinets as your black ones, I'm slowly convincing the Facilities guy to let me take some home for my garage. I've gotten 2 so far (4' and...

    garage door opener issue

Just thought I'd update my issue. I found the mounting instructions for my Genie opener, which states to put the green-LED sensor in the shade and the red-LED sensor in the sunny side (which the previous owner of my house had reversed). I swapped them yesterday and everything appears to be back...

    garage door opener issue

Perfect, thanks. I bought the house about 3 years ago with the opener already installed. I'll see if I can find any details in the paperwork. If not, I'll probably swap 'em anyway just to see if it changes things.
