Question about pressing and milling metals.

The blanks are flat, when I mill the ends. I have a sketch of what I need, and I'm sure I can fabricate the parts and get some help welding it up. I need to wait for the press to get here to take some measurements.

Question about pressing and milling metals.

I'm a jeweler, and I have been cold forging my materials. I purchased a 50 ton press for a variety of duties, one of which is to flatten materials that I put through my rolling mill. After some work, the material becomes wavy. I need to make a foot to press the material after I anneal it and...

Need oil recommendations for a new 3 in 1 combo mill/lathe

I'm new to machining, and I would like to know what kind of oils I should use for corrosion prevention and for cutting gold and silver. The hardness of the gold is similar to bronze. I am near the ocean, so I need to keep the metal surface lubricated with a film of oil. Thanks in advance for...

anybody have 2 sets of tools?

I have 3 sets of tools. One set is for home and shop use, kept in a 70s craftsman top and bottom rollaway. I have another full set of tools plus some specialty items in my race box, a 1960s grey and red craftsman top box plus a few milk crates full of larger tools, hammers, etc. My third set...

I picked up a Rock Island 595 vise and a few other things today, advise?

Alright, I'm going to soak the rock island and leave the c. Parker as is. I'm still debating whether I should grind the jaw pads off, repair the jaws and replace the pads. I'll post pics, once the vise is out of the bath.

That sounds good. Thank you! Here are some pics of my barn find Chas Parker. It came with plywood jaw inserts. I think ˆ'll just keep this one the way it is. I like the rough look of it.

I picked up a Rock Island 595 vise and a few other things today, advise?

I have cleaned up the vise a little bit. Can someone tell me whether it would be a good idea to grind the jaws fee and try to rethread them, or should I just clean it up and put it back together. This will be my first vise recondition. Also, I found a Chas Parker vise in a barn, and I made a...

Vintage Plomb (Plvmb) Tool Co. ½" Ratchet Extra Long (1 of a kind!) $500

I wonder if he would take a western union from my rich uncle in Somalia, who recently passed and left me a very large inheritance.

    parker vise rebuild

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get your vise down to bare metal? Thanks! Ah, never mind. I see in another thread you media blasted it. I'd like to do that as well, but I would have to pay for the job. I'd like to keep my costs down. Maybe I can trade for some blasting.

I picked up a Rock Island 595 vise and a few other things today, advise?

Thanks for the ad for the Cheney. I knew it was not complete and repaired, but I wanted it anyways. I'll most likely mount it to an old piece of wood and either sell it as decor or I may smooth out the top surface and let my wife have it to stamp her jewelry. I want to clean the Rock Island to...

Post A Picture Of Your Shadetree Repairs!

This is a great idea for a tread! I have three vehicle projects I am working on currently. My Camaro is always a work in progress. I race two full seasons in a row, and I am taking part of the season off to upgrade my '66 F100 and make the car a bit better. I'll be at the track a few times...
