    Vise on a stand question

Thanks for all the help. I was actually looking for a fixed base vise. I think being on the stand instead of my work bench, it will be ok. I haven't ever had luck with swivel bases. That said, I've never had a quality vise either. Mix that with the fact that I abuse them a little too bad, and...

    Vise on a stand question

I've been looking for a vise for my shop, I finally found one in one of my dads sheds. It is a craftsman 506-51801. The thing about it is, there is no swivel base it is bolted to a plate with one bolt right in the middle. I'm going to mount it on a stand I am building. Will it hold up if I bolt...

OT - Better adhesive remover than 3M

Can you get MEK paint thinner. It's pretty strong it might do the trick. Better wear gloves and have ventilation or a mask.

    Lift oil

I got a used challenger lift. I have it installed now. It leaked some fluid out in the process of moving it. It doesn't look red like atf. I'm guess just regular hydraulic fluid. Can I top it off with some tractor hydraulic fluid I have in the shop? If not I was thinking about just draining it...

Double Vision? Nope, A Hillbilly moonshine coil and Twins (HF 60 Air Compressors).

I have a old black max 60 gallon and a old 30 gallon crapsman hooked together. It's not even close to looking like this. It's been working great for years though. I do still need a little more. Want to change the 30 gallon for a 60. Just not top priority right now.

painting cabinets with a regular HVLP gun

You should be able to reduce the fan size on your gun. All of mine will go all the way down from a wide fan to a circle. If it's still too large for 1" tubing, adjust the amount of paint that is flowing and move closer to what you are painting.

painting cabinets with a regular HVLP gun

To keep from having any dryspray/overspray you have to keep the paint wet as you go. That's where the air compressor comes in. My compressor or older so they are probably not as good as needed, but to combat the problem of running out of air. I hook mine together, I have a old black max 60...

painting cabinets with a regular HVLP gun

I painted all mine with a gravity feed gun. I used a oil based paint from Sherwin Williams. It came out nice. I did have to thin it down good.

    Auto lift

Thanks for the help. The slider pads look good with no visible excessive wear on the columns. Some of the arm restraints parts are missing, none are hooked up. Not sure what they hook to or how they work. Rubber pads are gone. The safety latches work properly.

    Auto lift

They closed this shop down and built a new one with all new equipment. My boss bought this building, because it joins our property. I picked out the best looking one. Working on a price now.

    Auto lift

I'm looking at buying a 9000# challenger model 27,000 used. Does anyone have any experience with this brand. It's coming out of a dodge dealership.

    Hey from Louisiana

It seems like every time I look up an idea for my shop to see if anyone else as tried it, this site always comes up. I always find good info to build my project off of. So I decided today I might as well join.
