OT - Better adhesive remover than 3M

My son is opening a Taco joint and I am pulling up grip tape off the kitchen floor.
I've used every type of thing I know of in the past and it's never a fun job removing the residual adhesive. This stuff is as bad, or worse, and it is truly a pia.
Anyone one know if the best stuff? Even better than 3M?The 3M is the best stuff I've used but I need better[emoji15].
So far I have tried:
Warming and heating
Pulling in different way so the adhesive some up with the tape
Denatured alcohol
Acetone
Goo gone
WD-40
Napa adhesive remover (don't buy it)
As well as other chemicals common in this effort.
Scraping with putty knife and razor blade.
Urinating on it[emoji16]. Well not really but it paints the picture.
Any help is appreciated.

Can you get MEK paint thinner. It's pretty strong it might do the trick. Better wear gloves and have ventilation or a mask.

I've been investigating pulling wrap vinyl from a race trailer, whats pretty common is to lay a plastic bag or sheet over the chemical to keep it in contact with the adhesive to give it more time to break it down.

Just throwing this out there but freeze it then try scraping it off. Maybe a shot of nitrogen or something cold. Like I said, just throwing thoughts around. Good luck.

If it is a non-porous surface then you can try xylene/xylol. That is the one of the active ingredients of Goof-Off, but you'll want to have plenty of ventilation.

I use orange cleaner, the citrus orange based stuff to remove tape residue. Not a hazmat solvent which is a bonus. I have had as good of luck or better with it as some of the nasty chemicals. Just a few bucks to pick up a small container at a box store or your grocery store.

The best adhesive remover that I have used is lighter fluid. I learned of this from a guy who used it to take old price tags off collectable toys. Strange but true.

Something that will sometimes work on hard to remove adhesives is to take a piece of masking tape, and repeatedly stick it to and remove the adhesive. For some reason, the adhesive will often stick to the masking tape and the tape will pull it off of whatever it is on. Get a new piece of masking tape as it stops working.

Grinding may be far easier even if you have to do the whole floor to match.

If it's gooey use a chemical, if it's hard use one of those oscillating tools with a scraper blade.

Try a piece of dry ice. Freezing will turn adhesive into a very brittle substance. you might be able to scrape it off with some success. I watched a clean up crew using the dry ice method. They were removing vinyl tiles ( asbestos?) from a concrete floor after a building fire and the tiles can up with the adhesive still on the tiles and the concrete looked almost new.

We can get it here in the states, but it usually comes in a tiny jar for five bucks an ounce or more.

You Aussies probably have the stuff sitting around in jugs, huh?

3M adhesive remover is what I was referring to.
The floor is sheet vinyl. I tried using goo gone, wd40 and Napa spray remover today. Covered with plastic and left for 3 hours. Came back and the glue was softer but still a lot of scraping.
At the suggestion of someone else I ordered some d-limonene cards oil. I'll report back.

Are you trying to remove the vinyl or remove something on top of the sheet vinyl?

What's under the vinyl and what is the floor made of?

"rapid remover" can be had any sign shop to remove glue leave on minute to 3 min wipe it off with a plastic scrubbie . then wipe up with rag i am in sign industry this works for me last 15 yrs acetone works too with razor blade if gyou go to sign shop as for little chisler its pink plastic scraper they have them too.

If this is a commercial kitchen I am surprised there is vinyl on the floor. If health department allows consider covering it with interlocking floating vinyl plank. You can roll out foam underlayment to keep slight imperfections from telegraphing through. Probably quicker and would look nicer.

A fast version of this is to turn a can of keyboard cleaner (compressed air?) upside down and spray. Not quite as cold as dry ice, but much easier to find and it'll tell you whether or not the ice is likely to work.

The problem with this method is you don't get enough exposure. With the dry ice method if it's not working you come back in another 15 min and try again and repeat until it's working.
