    vct "grain"

As a personal preference, I put all the "grains" facing the same direction. Kinda hard to tell from the shine when the floor was new, but... 370z: I enjoyed your floor thread! It sure looks nice, and I plan on doing the epoxy over my VCT this spring. My VCT's been down for over three years...

VCT tile now done. Looks great!

I was just planning on doing this to take up the wax and expose a fresh surface: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1224140&postcount=6 I tried the Armstrong chemical stripper and it didn't work for me at all. I just got some sporadic areas stripped and it looked terrible...

VCT tile now done. Looks great!

No, no problems with liquids or anything getting between the tiles. I think I waited about a week after laying the tiles to put down 5 or so coats of wax. There may be some minimum time period before applying wax/epoxy - I forget. But, if you do apply wax or epoxy soon after laying the...

VCT tile now done. Looks great!

Mine's probably three years now. It's still in great shape really. No deep scratches, chipping, tiles coming up, cracks developing, etc. Mine isn't a shop, but a well-used working garage. I do take care though when putting vehicles on jackstands to slip an extra tile under them. It is...

    Black VCT and 1109 Epoxy

I have the same question please. Last I knew, 1101 was the product to use over VCT  Your garage looks great blazer1974! I would like to do this over my VCT floor I've had for about three years now as I'm tired of the waxing. Is the 80grit sanding common, or should I try to use...

vct garage tile question/issue *pics inside*

I snapped my chalk line at the garage door so I got a full tile where it gets the most traffic/wear and went from there. I don't know about starting from the middle.... Then, you can just cut the tiles as you get near walls. Like another post above, my baseboards and floor (near the walls)...

How is your VCT floor holding up?

Well, I used the Armstrong floor polish stripper over the weekend. I don't recommend it at all. You really have to do a small section, and then scrape it off with some work. Definitely not something you want to do for 500ft^2. I think I'll rent a polisher/buffer from now on.

How is your VCT floor holding up?

Brake cleaner, PB Blaster, etc doesn't seem bad for the tiles in the short term, but it will remove the polish. I used a lot cleaning my 18 year old daily-drivers undercarriage and suspension that had over 100k miles on it: I would like to put a Wolverine coating on mine someday for the...

How is your VCT floor holding up?

I'm in South Carolina, so we don't get a whole lot of rain. When it does rain, I'll park my car in the garage and after about an hour, there are a bunch of small puddles underneath from it dripping off the body panels around the perimeter of the car (not really anything under the car - just...

How is your VCT floor holding up?

No, I'll be using just the chemical stripper since the floor isn't really in that bad of shape overall. Mostly just remove the old wax and put down a few fresh coats.... I haven't tried any non-slip stuff as I'm the only one that uses the garage. If my wife and kids were parking in there...

How is your VCT floor holding up?

I've had my VCT down now for two years in a 450ft^2 garage. It sees the same duty as SteveB's, except I park my daily-driver there. I use wood under my jackstands, and planned to have the tires parked on black tiles before I laid them. If it's raining and you park your daily in there, you may...

    VCT Installed on Sunday...

Are you parking on top of spare black tiles? If not, is it discoloring any of your other color tiles? Sure looks nice. I really like the color combo.

VCT tile now done. Looks great!

Thanks, The pictures I keep recycling are from when it was just finished! While my garage has stayed relatively clutter-free over the 1.5 years, I have some **** along that wall/corner now. Oh, well. I have to admit, I don't keep the floor as clean as I should, although I frequently sweep it...
