    Kent Moore tool question: J-8806

Hello- I can't seem to find a complete Kent Moore tool catalog online. I have worked at searching the internet, but cannot find the specific application for tool J-8806-1. I believe it is a ball joint press. Can anyone offer assistance? Thanks! Dan

Help ID'ing Mac Tool- Carburetor tool?

Can anyone help me identify this tool? It is about two feet long. Turning the knob at the top spins the flat head at the far end. I think it is for adjusting carburetors? Thanks!

    Delta Press- score and question

I have been looking to replace my crappy little drill press that I have had since college days, and finally had a chance to get something I can enjoy- both the restoration and the use. I found this delta rockwell at a garage sale this weekend, and it followed me home for a $20 fee. Even though...

22/30 auto shops fail mystery "shopper" test

Re: 22/30 garages fail mystery "shopper" test No, we do not. This kind of prejudice and ignorance is really not helpful. Big pharma should be ashamed of their obscene profits, just like big oil. But it is an extremely rare doctor who profits fom using one drug versus another. We don't get...

    mossberg military?

APCO, not abco! This merger occurred in 1927. Beyond that, I cannot find other info.

    mossberg military?

That was the first place I had checked. There is no mention (that I can find) of the ABCO markings, nor any mention of military applications.

    mossberg military?

Going through my garage sale stash from last weekend, I came across this in the bottom of an old tool box. It is dressed in typical military drab green. It is an old style, but does not have markings that give me an easy way to know its date of manufacture. I assume most companies made...

    Generic rust removal solution

EOR is not buffered, so I suspect the pH might drift a bit depending on storage, use, etc. I measured the pH of a fresh batch at 7.1 Dan

EOR has a slightly basic pH. If it had any kind of acid (like vinegar) it would have a low, acidic pH. I agree about the smell, however. I think it is from the iron salts that go into solution as the rust dissolves.

Still here! Yes, I am a scientist. Not a chemist per se, but certainly understand the science here. I have been messing around quite a bit with rust removal. The best thing about chelation (vs. acid), is that you can leave it in the solution indefinitely, without any risk to the tool. For...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

My first restoration: Craftsman box I have a few boxes that I want to restore, particularly a '66 SO to go with my '66 F250. I thought I would start with something a bit easier. Bought this for 10 bucks (full) at a G-sale. It was bleached out and rusty, but the integrity was good. I think...

    Tool find: Dayton

I have not seen much discussion of this tool company. I bought these at a garage sale, kind of greasy but easy to clean up. Two bucks for the bunch, plus a few other brands. They feel great in the hand, very heavy. I will head over to the artifacts site and see what they say, but would be...

    P&C tool co. question

Anyone have an old catalog for the P&C tool Co. in Milwaukee (Portland), Oregon? I live there, and would like to know if the original building is still there, but have not been able to find the original address. Thanks- Dan

    ratchet lubrication question

I am rehabilitating a SO 3/4 drive ratchet head that has been very sadly neglected. It is clean on the inside (now), and needs to be lubed before rebuilding. What is the optimal lubrication, and quantity of lubrication to use? Thanks Dan
