Thanks for the advice. I need to get a piece of pipe like that - I looked and I don’t have anything that size. Probably just get a scrap from the HW store. I’ll keep you posted
Now I’m having a big problem getting the spindle pulley off. Any advice there in the videos I’ve seen it just comes out very easily so I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing. Is it that diagonal screw that I need to remove?
Any advice on removing the quill? My son and I have started a refurbish on the 73 I got and we have the quill on the right in the diagram. Has anyone ever removed one of those? The videos online have the left quill with the chuck removal slot etc
I am planning on refurbishing my 74, using pieces from a 73 that I just picked up yesterday off FB Marketplace.
Does anyone know if there is any fundamental difference between the two models? The only thing I have noticed is that the 73 is green and my 74 is grey.
I have looked at the...
I see what you mean. Upon further examination, the 74 doesn't have a splines spindle at all. It has the 61-4C spindle, and the splined spindle is 60-4B, which does not appear on the Atlas 74 list
Can you explain this? I am worried about that. Single Spline Slot? Which part number is this: 63-6 or 60-6A? They look identical on the spec sheets drawings. Are these interchangeable?
I am trying to obtain parts for an Atlas 74 that is missing a spindle assembly, motor pulley and the entire spring assembly. I found this craftsman for sale near me but I can't tell if it is equivalent to an Atlas. Looks like it.
Any ideas?
Spent this morning taking the Atlas 74 apart and cleaning it. Wow. I was amazed that I was able to get the upper and lower units off the pole with a healthy amount of W240. That made it a lot easier to move to my car from where it was sitting for years. The engine alone is so heavy. No idea...
Also to reply to your mention of materials, I am a woodworker pretty exclusively unless the thing I am making have hardware that need to be modified/made.
