What about the rubber from a pair of white 'Mickey Mouse' boots? (Would rubber work, and are the edges white like the exterior?)

    Astro Pneumatic Tool Company

Just got my Astro 1/2" drive in 3/8" body ratchet. Looks and feels great, I can't wait to use it.

Does anyone use 1/4in with larger fasteners?

A 3/8 stubby is just a cut down 3/8 ratchet. Here's a pic of an SK 3/8 ratchet with an SK 3/8 mech in a 1/4" body. Huge difference.

    Socket Drive Adapters: Which sizes/types?

I'm pretty set for 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sets, so, obviously, the best ones to have are the ones I don't: a 1/2 > 3/4 adapter, so I can use even bigger sockets with my 1/2" ratchet; and a 3/4 > 1/2 adapter, so I can buy a giant 3/4" breaker bar to use with my 1/2" sockets.

When are inexpensive tools "good enough"?

I agree with your sentiment completely, but the tool you chose has failed me no matter what brand I buy (including the Lisle.) Either the handle twists off, or the threads can't handle the force and it cross threads itself.

    Navy Ship Drill Press

I think it looks interesting, but I'll pass on this one. Like CommanderCarry mentioned, I'm kinda looking for something that works-- that could use a good clean up and regular maintenance.

    Navy Ship Drill Press

This drill press came up for sale near me, $450. Ad says it's heavy duty, was on a navy ship, and "might need a little work". I've been looking for a drill press for my garage, what am I looking at here? (Only pic offered, and that's all that was in the description. )
