I have a smaller garage as well and needed a good compressor for pretty much the same uses as you listed. My previous 30 gallon oil-free compressor was noisy and could not keep up with high demand without cycling constantly. I upgraded to a IR Garagemate 20 gal lubricated upright compressor...
My Hitachi 18V is holding up well after several years and thousands of screws driven. I think that it is stronger than the two Rigid impacts that my friends have. YMMV.
Thanks for that offer, very generous. I would take you up on that if I were still in TX. I wish HW corporate tech support felt the same way, they would still have my business, but they really didn't care.
HiBall,
No offense intended and apologize to the OP for the thread drift. A HW may be fixable but only to someone who has the knowledge and tools to work on it. Around here, they are quoting me $250 minimum and 4-5 weeks wait time just to check it out (two shops). Or, I can buy the power unit...
I have a situation similar to yours and recently bought both of these same jacks.
I bought the HW based on its US made, solid reputation. However, the jack arrived damaged and inoperable. When I contacted the distributor for repair parts they just refunded my money and the told me to keep...
I picked the Dewalt 10" dual bevel telescoping miter saw earlier this year when I was trimming out my garage. I got tired of miters that were a couple of degrees off or having to reverse trim around for a bevel cut.
The Dewalt 717 is dead accurate and powerful enough for any job. It can do a...
Thanks for the input, great to know that it will work over concrete with Tapcons. Did you purchase your accessories directly from Sears or find them somewhere else?
I want to add some slatwall organization to my garage. I remember a Great Garage Makeovers magazine article on various brands and the pro/cons. I also remember that some were incompatible with others for add-on accessories. I would like to know if anyone is using the Craftsman Versatrack...
I agree with this statement. I have a HF air die grinder and never realized that it lacked so much power until I borrowed a friend's SK. Heads and tails above mine in terms of torque.
If you are talking about electric grinders, I initially had a HF. It worked, but it was always noisy and...
I got a Porter Cable corded version a couple years ago during a Black Friday sale. I found it is great for small projects and tight areas. It works when no other power tool can get in to do the job; very impressed with its versatility thus far.
HiBall,
I tried to bring my jack to a couple shops for repair advice, but it seems as if everyone is backed up right now. I think that I may have to disassemble and examine the power unit to see what malfunctioned. I am not sure about the breakdown procedure for this unit, so I am going to...
Sluggo,
I just looked at the model number and realized I have the same jack that you are asking about. It failed recently and I am replacing it with another. If you want the wheels from it, please PM me with your address and I will send them out to you.
I'll try again and see what happens however, I did try to lift the arm manually previously. I felt resistance but I think it was the tension springs. After I pulled it up, some fluid leaked out. Upon releasing it, it went down to about 2-3 inches above the bottom. I had to release the...
