    St. Louis Fleas?

The flea market at Wentzville is located off Church street at the fairgrounds. If you get there and the parking lot is full,DON'T park in the streets. The cops will write a ticket. It's not posted as no parking, but to me its seems like a source a revenue for the city.Pevely is pretty much dead,but...

    Sliding Mitre Saw

    A few years ago i bought a Hitachi 10" slider on clearance for $240.00 from Lowes.It's a bada$$ piece of machinery,i tell you.With a Porter-cable hybrid blade called a razor,it makes some clean cuts.

I used JB weld to fix a large crack in my aluminum boat hull.It was below the water line.It held up until i got rid of the boat.

    Scrapyard Score(s)

Back in the mid 1980's the plating shop i worked for would sell their scrap plated parts for cash.We would go to the St.louis auto shredders in East St.louis,IL. to dump the scrap off.It was UNREAL the stuff that layed around. One time i was there and a local G.M./Chevy dealership was scrapping...

    Drywall screw pops

Whenever i drywall anything i use 2 screws about 2-3 inches apart at regular intervals. It pulls the screws to the drywall tight to prevent shifting of the screw depth.

    Really stupid moves

Back in 2002 i went on vacation at lake of the Ozarks with my wife and youngest son.We had a great time and were headed back to Illinois.I forgot to check all fluid levels and the boat trailer lug nuts, when just outside of St.louis all HELL breaks loose.I looked back in my rearview mirror just...

    What's up w/ Cornwell's chrome plating???

Oldtools,we would usually bend the metal at least 90° to verify the plating on thin parts.Thicker parts were beat with a hammer or hit with a grinder.Sandblasting was rarely used in my shop. Most everything required a high polish in order for it to look good.Plating will not cover scratches or...

    What's up w/ Cornwell's chrome plating???

I used to work in a plating shop many moons ago.It sounds like they ran too much voltage or current during the nickel or chrome plating process.Too much power "burns" or overplates the part and the plating becomes brittle or flakey at the edges or corners. We were required to test every job we...
