    Hypertherm 65 Sync.

I'm glad I ran across this thread. I was considering a SYNC machine but think I'll move on and maybe look at a Thermal Dynamics one instead. I've been down that proprietary road with lots of computer equipment and peripherals in my career and whenever you can avoid it, it pays. I have a very old...

Electric panel location for red steel building

Thanks for the unistrut idea. That's what we're going to do. Now that I know what it is I watched a couple of YouTube videos on it. I now see it everywhere I go.

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

Based on earlier advice we hard wired a disconnect to feed the compressor. I'm not sure how having a disconnect between a plug and a compressor is ok but plugging in the compressor directly is not.

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

Doesn't UL listing mean anything? I thought that was to assure consumers that the product met safety standards. Also, this cheap China **** talk sounds like what people used to say about Japanese cars. Just like US manufactured goods, I'm sure Chinese manufactured goods have a wide range of...

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

All the brand electrical manufacturers sell DIN rail mount components. They probably prefer their proprietary boxes so that they can charge $30 for a 15 amp breaker because it is for an older box. With DIN mounted components you don't have this problem.

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

It was UL listed. Most automation control systems at factories use DIN rail mounted breakers, contactors, relays etc. these days because of the flexibility. In a lot of other countries DIN rail mounted breakers are the standard. I personally like the idea that I can buy a component from anyone...

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

Thank you for the info. We are going to install a temporary disconnect by the compressor until the electric is run. We will hardwire it with some flexible conduit. Please tell me that's ok. Haha.

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

The panel is about 6 ft away from where I want the compressor to be. The compressor is inside a garage and the power is outside. No garage door on structure yet

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

I was planning on using this until something permanent is available. And yes the motor is 5 hp

Need to connect 240 v compressor with 2 hots and a ground to a 4 prong NEMA 50 amp receptacle

It's a good problem to have instead of the other way around. I bought a 50 amp 4 prong dryer pigtail to wire my new 240v compressor. The compressor looks like it uses 2 hots and a ground. No neutral. Is it to code to clip the neutral wire at the pigtail end by the motor and just hookup the 2...

Electric panel location for red steel building

I'm helping my daughter and son in law run electric to their new red steel building. I've never done work in a structure like this so the first thing is where to mount the sub panel. we are going to run conduit up to the purlins for lighting. For the switches and plugins it will all be surface...
