    Picked up a bench grinder

Made in Taiwan and they are truly the baddest import tool I’ve ever seen! The OP likely has an early 80’s model and mine is an 87’. I missed out on the cast tool rests but I had some custom made from angle iron. As the OP stated, mine takes everything I can throw at it and laughs it off. I...

    2022 Garage Sale Thread

I lucked into some sweeeeet deals on Friday. I was head about an hour north of me for an auction preview. On my way I ran across a big 2 family yard sale. I usually don’t randomly yard sale but I was compelled to stop and check this one out. Primarily, because an old camelback drill press...

Snagged the bandsaw for $68 and Wilton Pow-R-Arm for $7. The Wilton has been attached to the base of a desk chair. I pick them up Monday. Had to buy...

    Prentiss Vise Help

Well I gave into my own peer pressure and took a cold chisel to the collar weld The weld was really strong surprisingly the collar broke before the weld began to chip away. Either way, it’s off and I can continue cleaning up the vice. I had already taken the time to clean the rest off the vise...

    Prentiss Vise Help

Yes, this thing must have spent time underground for all the dirt I dug out of. As a result the handle and nose are so badly pitted, I’d like to take them off to more easily clean it up.

    2022 Garage Sale Thread

I think I’m doing this right, thought I’d share my tool haul from a recent estate sale, and ask for help identifying the manufacturer of this colorful vise. Chisels and carving tools are in excellent condition. I lucked up while there and met a fellow who was sitting on a bunch of new 10yr old...

    Prentiss Vise Help

That’s what I thought I’d do as a replacement if I couldn’t match it up. My understanding is the prong of the existing collar bends into place and can be broken fairly easily. The welds just seemed out of place. It had been painted once before I got it, but that paint and this weld look ages apart.
