Running power to small outdoor shop

In the midst of something similar. Detached garage, about 75' from the panel. Happened upon some #4 Copper on craigslist awhile ago. Had to trench natural gas for a firepit, piggybacked 2" conduit in the trench for garage electrical. Am now finishing (taping the #%@&) drywall. Went with a...

Running GEC in conduit with feeder conductors

Thanks Bert. Found the info in 314.28. So my plan for a low profile box on the wall is blown up. I'll have to pursue the higher LB mount.

Running GEC in conduit with feeder conductors

Thanks Bert. I hear you on running the conduit high. Unfortunately wife vetoed (garage wall faces family room). If necessary, I could get her to change her mind, but looking at other options right now. WRT 4x4 box, trying to find fill requirements. Using 4AWG copper. 314.16A shows conductors...

Running GEC in conduit with feeder conductors

Installing subpanel in detached garage, surface mounted electrical. Underground feeder wires through LB on exterior, through wall in PVC into a metal 4” box then up wall in EMT into subpanel. (I could use a 2nd LB, thought box would be a cleaner install.) Running GEC from 2x ground rods...

    Detached garage, underground line stubout

Thanks again. Another question for Sparky - does the disconnect have to be immediately (or as soon as feasible) after the conduit passes through the wall? Do I have to have the panel (with disconnects) at the point of penetration, or can I run conduit and have the panel in a location further...

    Detached garage, underground line stubout

Thanks Sparky. I was afraid that that is the best solution.

    Detached garage, underground line stubout

Here's a simple sketchup. Perspective makes it look wonky. 1.5" conduit stubbed out of ground. About 8" from wall. Would have preferred it directly adjacent to wall. Apparently, current NEC requires exterior disconnect for service entrance, feeder requirement is less clear. In older cycles, I...

    Detached garage, underground line stubout

Hi all, Pulling electricity to detached garage. Buried conduit stubbed out adjacent to garage siding, but offset about 8". (So the far edge of the conduit stub is 8" away from the garage siding.) Plan to run conduit up the wall to a disconnect switch and then carry the conduit into the garage...

Router and power planer, opinions please.

Depth setting on my (older) makita palm router doesn't work well. Perhaps if you get the plunge base, but the stock base doesn't provide sufficient repeatability. You'll see comments about it in the amazon reviews.

female square to male hex or something else?

Thanks again. The Lisle tap sockets have a bore about 3/4" deep before the square broach. The bore doesn't fit over the square shaft shoulder. Ordered the koken socket - it's oos, but hopefully will be restocked soon. BTW, free shipping at the Koken USA site.

female square to male hex or something else?

Yes, trying to drive a 6mm square. Am hoping for something that I can attach a ratchet to, or something with a handle. Appreciate the two solutions offered.

female square to male hex or something else?

Hi. I've got an older Inca planer for which I've lost the platen raise/lower crank (swept up with some chips I think.) The original crank was a bored crank handle with a hollow shaft pinned to the handle. The hollow shaft had a square broach (female) to receive the complementary square head...

    Outdoor Storage Shed Door

re: bifolds and sliding doors. Difficult to effectively seal. Don't know where you live, but we have trees that drop crud, landscapers that blow dust, .... Unless you pay attention to the details, it will be difficult to keep out debris. Depends on what you're storing in there.

    Outdoor Storage Shed Door

I just did something like this. Narrow space between garage and fence, limited outswing. 2' deep, 8' wide, 6' tall. I used 4 doors - 2 sets of 2. I built mine to store HD tubs on shelves, 4 total per row, 4 rows tall, with a 24" wide full height vertical section at one end. If your requirement...

Looking For Ideas On How To Store Electrical and Plumbing Stuff on Shelves

Like others above, plastic totes. I've got one for interior stuff, receptacles, trim rings, ... Another for rough electrical and a third for NM and THWN remnants. I've got some smaller milk crates for the few pieces of heavy plumbing supplies (black pipe,...) Sprinkler stuff in a smaller clear...
