Decisions, decisions. The wife or my garage?

Sit down with her alone, no distractions. Share with her what your plans are and if you need to take the kid(s) with you to the shop so be it. work out a schedule that will work for the two of you. But remind her that when you are in the shop, you are doing man stuff. You are not at the bar...

My shop will have 3 doors 14' wide by 16' high. Never know how tight that is until you try to back into that in the dark.

    Storing fuel

I use to store race fuel in drums. I installed a copper rod very deep in the ground and grounded the drum. Kept everything away from it and kept it in the corner. Later I found out that if something would of happened my insurance company would not of covered the damages. So check with...

Need advice about addition vs standalone building

We are finalizing our drawings for a house and detached shop. We are up in North Scottsdale east of Troon. We decided to make the shop separate from the house for several reasons. The biggest reason was at our old house I would inadvertently trail in metal pieces on my shoes and clothes...

    Show us your welding projects

[/IMG] I made a RV gate that had to swing out. One problem was the driveway sloped away from the house. I really didn't need to have a wheel on the gate but I decided to put one on anyways. With the slope, the wheel would touch while the gate was closed but not when open. So I...

    Show your new tool arrivals

[/IMG] [/IMG] [/IMG] I bought a Buxton Engineering on head valve spring compressor. It's really designed to change springs while the head is on the car, but I tried it while I had the heads off and this thing works GREAT! I have several tools from Buxton and each one is top...

Potential layout for new garage, what do you think?

Nice plans. I am also in the process of building a 50x50 shop. I found some really neat tall sliding door shelves at IKEA last weekend. That way you don't have to open up a door that can swing into something. I wish that I had taken some pictures of that but it was every bit of 7' tall...

Not going to show what's inside for fear of you never know who is watching what you have and steal from you. Yes, I'm a little paranoid, but here is what I have [/IMG]

    Show me your light bars

I am a distributor for totron.com If you go on their website you can PM me with part numbers and I can get you anything you like. I am a lot cheaper than the other popular brands, plus they get them from this same company as well. I just don't have to charge an arm and a leg, lower overhead.

    Table Hoist

I have something similar to this. That way I can take heavy items out of the back of my truck or on the floor and put it on just about anywhere that can reach. Put it in a good spot and you will wonder how you lived without it.
